MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #8 MidianGTX, Mar 1, 2013 Damn it! No iPad retina. This could have been perfect, I'm always looking out for bullet hell games that actually have pattern fire from the enemies, I get bored of random bullet spread. I'm sure the game is great anyway, it's just not great and beautiful. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #9 metalcasket, Mar 1, 2013 Last edited: Mar 1, 2013 Did you try out the lite version? I'm probably the biggest "retina whore" on TouchArcade and I can't even tell if the game's retina-enabled or not. >_> Not only does it look gorgeous, I'm almost certain the game's running at 60 FPS (on a 4th gen iPad). john360 Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 51 0 0 #10 john360, Mar 1, 2013 Love the first one this sequel is cool, but i like original plane i hope you can upgrade your plane. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #11 MidianGTX, Mar 1, 2013 Yeah I did, did you? I ask because it seems quite obvious to me, anything with a curved edge is blocky. Though I must admit, it's not blurry at all, so I'm guessing it's been upscaled with nearest-neighbor interpolation which is definitely the way to go. It gives games an old-school arcade effect. It's still really pretty though, especially during gameplay. I'll probably pick it up when I'm feeling a little less guilty about spending so much on the App Store. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #12 metalcasket, Mar 1, 2013 Yeah, of course I tried it out and I'm exactly in the same boat as you right now. I've spent way, way, way too much over the last 2 weeks and I hate that this is where I draw the line, but I'll probably get this in a while. :/ john360 Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 51 0 0 #13 john360, Mar 1, 2013 Ill admit this game is addictive, but the plane? I like the original better, music? The original gives more groove, i like the new one as well but nothing can beat the original i still play the old one until now. Now, I am an icade fan. Can't wait to play this with my icade core and hdmi tv. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #17 Gabrien, Mar 1, 2013 Tried the lite version. Scrumptious frame rate, excellent controls, and... I was bored out of my mind after about five minutes. Possibly I'm just burnt out on these shooters now, but I really do fail to see anything of note this adds to the genre. Colour palette is uninspired... Music generic... Sound effects underwhelming. Suffers from the usual issue of too much stuff on screen... Do the pick-ups need to be that large? And for that matter, does your ship? Still, lite version available so impressions are only academic and more in the spirit of discussion. If this floats your boat, more power to you. Certainly is hard to fault from a technical standpoint. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #18 MidianGTX, Mar 1, 2013 The game seems to pride itself on following danmaku tradition judging by the "Authentic indie J-STG action" line, so having the screen full to the point of mayhem is probably something those traditionalists would look for. It's definitely what I look for. Same goes for the large player sprite, the Touhou project characters are typically large anime girl sprites with a small hitbox. It's really the more westernised SHMUPs that go for fewer/faster bullets and random spread with a player sprite that matches the hitbox, but those games are a dime a dozen so I'd rather go with this. GYO Member May 9, 2012 6 0 0 #19 GYO, Mar 1, 2013 Damn ! I can't download any games/app since i waked me up... (i wanted to try the lite version of this shmup of course) Credit Card available and i've got a predpaid itunes card, i dont' understand anything. That's like complaining a platformer makes you jump too much, or that you can't see your character in a FPS. Also, instabought. Sunny is a genious and a true artist.
