Spellsword mostly had its gameplay nuked for a start, Then there was Left 2 die, which was an amasing game but they did even more to that by even changing the name to make it cheesy as "free 2 Die" which felt pointless and spoiled half the fun. is it worth the risk even if it does look like it could be fun? This is going to be a very high risk purchase. What's to stop them changing this to "500 free attempts 501 paid attempts" I would love to hear what everplay have to say for themselves as far as changing the whole premise of the game goes because the track record is fairly grim. Having a game nuked a third time would just be depressing. P.s not trying to mean but I can only say it for what it looks like and positive reasurances would go some way to aleiviating that. Everplay Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2012 440 0 0 #7 Everplay, Feb 27, 2013 Hey guys! Wanted to inform you that 1001 Attempts will be $1 at launch. The $5 was a mistake at pricing. Do not worry. The paid version of 1001 Attempts will never go "free to play". undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,486 2 36 Houston, TX #8 undeadcow, Feb 27, 2013 I find it amusing that Everplay has to constantly assure players their latest games will not go freemium; and, like here, they have consistently voiced a definitive move to up front premium pricing. They should write some sort of textbook for other iOS game developers on the pitfalls of F2P. Everplay Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2012 440 0 0 #9 Everplay, Feb 27, 2013 It was more of a couple of mistakes we made, but we will never say "Free To Play" is a bad business model. Moving forward, we know what we will and will not do in regards to freemium vs premium gaming. Games like 1001 Attempts, Rock Blocker, Ace of Blades, etc will be apart of our premium catalog, but we are also developing new and exciting free2play games. Our free games generate 99.7% of our revenues, but we make games like 1001 Attempts because of our passion for it, not the money. BoneyCork Well-Known Member Jul 23, 2011 246 0 0 #10 BoneyCork, Feb 27, 2013 Had me worried about the price there for a second! It's absolutely brilliant. Definitely my game of the week. Really good fun, lovely chip tune music and simple gameplay. It's also not as disgustingly difficult as previews suggested it might be. It's fairly easy to get a good satisfying run going when compared to games like Super Hexagon. The difficulty ramps up nicely with a variety of obstacles and yeah...I keep going back for just one more go. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Great work guys. Only thing missing is perhaps a few more modes/difficulties? sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,706 1 0 Indiana, USA #11 sizzlakalonji, Feb 27, 2013 These are the kind of statements that make me think this platform may soon lose me. EDIT: This is nothing against the developer. They need to make money. I just don't see myself jumping on the micro transaction bandwagon anytime soon. Definitely interested in this game though, at either price. Everplay Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2012 440 0 0 #16 Everplay, Feb 27, 2013 We totally understand there are different strokes for different folks, so to speak. That is why we will continue to bring premium games with no IAP to the community that desires that kind of thing. Honesty in the gaming profession seems to be a rarity so it will be interesting to see what happens to this game and the others that you submit in the future. As an asside, it would make for an interesting research to find out if 100% of gamers put in 1% each or 5% put in 20% each but that is a different thing entirely of course. Gotta say, these retro titles you're putting out are just glorious, Everplay. The music, much like Rock Blocker is more than worth the price of admission alone, and the game controls like a dream. The design looks polished but i got some doubt if it worth 5 bucks counting what you can find for the same price...
