Today's been a little disappointing with most of my anticipated games turning out to be average. Hopefully this one takes it up a notch. Vovin ð® Spam Police ð Nov 28, 2009 6,514 3 38 Germany #5 Vovin, Nov 14, 2012 Last edited: Nov 14, 2012 Of course, my friend. I am into it for a few days now, and if you enjoy a few knots in your brain - this is the weapon of choice. The presentation is top notch and it seems that this game just waited to be developed for the iPhone touch screen. Everything feels and works smooth like butter. This is basically Taetriz (hehe, I disguised the name) in reverse. you have a huge block which comes down from above, and after a short tutorial, you start cutting out different shapes out of the big block. But it isn't as easy as it sounds, because you always need to clear a complete line of small blocks out of the big block. If a block touches the bottom: game over. The game comes with several game modes, and each one feels unique. This is a fun game for all puzzle fans and a love letter to your logical senses. Oh, mind the music - it's really special. edit: I just started the Puzzles mode, fantastic and clever designed. Can't think of a way to make it better right now. 5/5 DawnOfPlay Well-Known Member Dec 24, 2010 371 0 0 Game development studio Slovenia http://dawnofplay.com #6 DawnOfPlay, Nov 14, 2012 Tutorial and the Prototype Thanks! Good question - First, I need to post the tutorial video here: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel And, second, I should add this link to the prototype we published on Kongregate, that was featured on freeindiegam.es yesterday and then Boing Boing picked it up to for their news, which had an awesome effect - almost 10k players in one day! http://www.kongregate.com/games/zigah111/dream-of-pixels-prototype Hope playing the prototype a while explains the game mechanics, though I wish we made a good job with the tutorial even more - would love to get some feedback on that! Looks promising. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #13 Gabrien, Nov 15, 2012 Game Impressions This really is awfully nicely put together. Classic style gameplay with a twist, universal, different game modes, minimum price, and no IAP. A good dose of care has clearly been administered on the aesthetics side as well. What's not to like? One snag I did hit, is it wasn't immediately apparent to me why a shape could fit one way but not necessarily another. In fact I am still not 100% clear on some points of the game's rules and mechanics, but trial and error is proving informative. Perhaps the tutorial could stand to be expanded. Still, an effortless recommendation overall. sortvind Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2012 127 0 0 #14 sortvind, Nov 15, 2012 best game this week, without doubt. 1 dollar without IAP, so worth it. sweetdiss Well-Known Member Jun 15, 2009 1,743 5 38 #15 sweetdiss, Nov 15, 2012 I've been playing this for a few days (snagged an early code) and it's definitely one of the best releases this week. Pretty much everything Gabrien said is true. Very, very nice visual style and the gameplay is right on (though a tiny bit confusing at first). I'm still not very good at it as I've never been good at Tetris type games, but this is definitely one of the best I've played. Especially for such a low price. All of you, you just made our year (or two!)! Thanks so much! Yea, trial and error is what definitely works, we did implement all of those T-spins and L-twists, so usually it's either some "garbage blocks" blocking the way down or it's really stuck in there in-between the blocks - as a rough guide - a tetromino that would "go in" in Tetris, "comes out" in Dream of Pixels.
