After spending over a year in development, the iPad adaptation of the eponymous board game is shipping with neither single-player AI nor online multiplayer. Publisher Cyanide is asking just 99 cents for it – an absurdly low price for an iPad board game, even if it’s pass-and-play only I would love to hear differently... sladeums Well-Known Member Feb 2, 2012 607 0 0 Omaha, NE #5 sladeums, Nov 8, 2012 Last I heard this was pass n play only. No multiplayer, no AI. Been a month or more since I last heard, so that may have changed but I don't think so. thevagrant Well-Known Member Jun 8, 2009 631 0 0 #6 thevagrant, Nov 8, 2012 thanks a lot for this. I can't access pockettactics from work, but I have no doubt it is true, given the very vague and useless app description. Cyclades all over again... I'll keep my 0.89 cents then, and wait for an update from the dev. I would have paid 10 euros or more for this one. currymutton Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2008 4,430 1 0 #7 currymutton, Nov 8, 2012 I don't mind cause I may gather some people around to play this. Does the app enforce the rules? sapphire_neo Well-Known Member Jan 20, 2011 3,934 0 0 #8 sapphire_neo, Nov 8, 2012 I see the ghost of Cyclades is alive and well. The best thing about playing this kind of games is doing it with others. BazookaTime Well-Known Member Sep 30, 2009 5,340 1 36 Kansas http://www.paulmcraelind.com #10 BazookaTime, Nov 8, 2012 This is a pretty cool game, especially for .99. I will have to wait until tonight to play against someone but I went into the game and did a few minutes of two player to check it out. Art and game sounds are very nice, touch controls work like they should. The game is surprisingly easy to understand and I caught on right away, they also do a nice job with the instructions. Players are different colors but it would be nice if you could enter your name to make it easier to remember who you are. I did not see any stats. For .99 and the low amount of space this takes up, I think this is worth a pick up just I case you end up with someone to play against. Up to four players can play. It's now selling for over twice the original price but has apparently had an overhaul plus the addition of single player mode. I've never played it but love a good board game adaptation - this looks a bit like Waterdeep, does it play similarly or is it very different? skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #13 skoptic, Jun 22, 2016 Sadly the update did precious little to overhaul an awful UI and UX experience. There was a damning review on pockettactics or BGG, but I had taken the plunge before that (after the update) only to refund about 3 hours later. It is basically an awful app (the game might be great), the Dev is often cited as being unresponsive. There are so many apps which are more deserving of your few dollars. I have about 20-30 board game iOS apps and this was so bad, it wa insta-refund which very rarely happens. Sadly this game should not be mentioned In the same sentence as waterdeep (Save your money for twilight struggle, heroes of Normandie and others coming soon!) Too bad ZS77 Well-Known Member May 8, 2015 566 2 18 #15 ZS77, Jun 22, 2016 Thanks very much for that, I don't need anymore persuading than that! The reference to Waterdeep in the same sentence made me chuckle! # Cheers for your help. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
