The Lost Cities is very nice game from one of the most know German board- and cardgame-makers. BUT, I would really like to see a polished version for iPad as well cprloe Well-Known Member Oct 17, 2009 830 0 0 Katy, Texas USA #8 cprloe, Aug 22, 2012 Last edited: Aug 22, 2012 For those of you pronouncing an immediate "no purchase" for this, have you seen how the game looks in the 2X mode on the iPad? I assume it doesn't look great, but this is one of the best 2-player card games out there and we all know that Coding Monkeys did a fantastic job with Carcassone, an app that was made universal after launch. If all I had was an iPad, the app would have to look absolutely terrible on an iPad for me to consider not getting it. I would much rather play this on an Ipad with it looking mediocre than have to deal with a ridiculous Facebook login requirement, or a requirement that I had to be online at all times to play the app. For those of us who can and will play on an iPhone or iPod touch, I am very pleased with the $3.99 launch price for an app this polished that has async multiplayer right out of the gate. currymutton Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2008 4,430 1 0 #9 currymutton, Aug 22, 2012 If there will be universal, I am buying right away. sapphire_neo Well-Known Member Jan 20, 2011 3,934 0 0 #10 sapphire_neo, Aug 22, 2012 My apprehension is simply that this not turn into a Ticket to Ride like situation where I would have to purchase the app twice. It's pretty bizarre that this isn't universal on launch tbh, given TCM's work on Carcassonne. Mythbuster Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2008 1,260 22 38 Journalist In the middle of nowhere #11 Mythbuster, Aug 22, 2012 No way for me! I don't care about the price ... but: I want something that was made for my gaming device ... thats it. And, do not forget. This game had taken a long time ... and after that time still no universal version? OK, then not ... Floooo New Member Aug 22, 2012 1 0 0 #12 Floooo, Aug 22, 2012 What are you talking about? As far as I know the game was first announced a week ago badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #13 badmanj, Aug 22, 2012 Reasonable point... and I might go this route, provided if this goes 'iPad' it does so via Universal update rather than a separate app - because I don't want to pay twice for the same thing... Jamie. cprloe Well-Known Member Oct 17, 2009 830 0 0 Katy, Texas USA #14 cprloe, Aug 22, 2012 I agree that it is disappointing that this isn't universal at launch, but CM did the same thing with the launch of Carcassone and that certainly turned out alright. Has anyone heard whether there are plans to make it universal or whether they plan to charge separately for an iPad version? Since they went the universal route with Carcassone, it would be strange if they made a separate iPad app for Lost Cities. Whatever ends up happening, I will still take one of Coding Monkeys' apps every day of the week over the Goko disaster with Dominion and the Zabu debacle with Thunderstone. Appletini Well-Known Member Jan 8, 2011 2,564 0 0 Ankh-Morpork #15 Appletini, Aug 22, 2012 From the FAQ: Will Lost Cities be available for iPad? Right now, Lost Cities is an iPhone game and we feel the speed and purity of its gameplay make it a natural on the platform. We will look into releasing an iPad version at a later time, but have no immediate plans to do so at the moment. Of course, an iPad version would involve rethinking the User Interface and designing specifically for the device. Not just upscaling the iPhone version.
