The mention of "energy drinks" has me a little concerned. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #5 pjft, Mar 13, 2012 Last edited: Mar 13, 2012 So, as far as the game plays you buy the energy drinks with in-game currency, i.e. the money you get from your wage, sponsors, or even gambling The drinks are not necessary, and unless something is fundamentally changed - which I wouldn't see why - you wouldn't need to buy IAPs for that. The Android version is a full-price release - $2,99 or something, and there are no IAPs for now. All the drinks I ever chose to buy I afforded them with my in-game money. Their use, in all fairness, is to recover your stamina, or to increase a bit your stats or relationships (i.e. you drink an energy supplement, or go have drinks with your friends). But you'll only really require them if you're getting overly tired during the week - i.e. investing too much in training, or in your relationships. If you balance these out (and it's tricky sometimes ), you shouldn't need them much. If you want to speed up things, and grind your way up to maxing your stats in your first two seasons, though, and be an 18-year-old titan, then hey, I imagine there are people willing to buy them in bulk In all fairness, I haven't ever thought "man, I would need more drinks than the ones I can afford" - I just thought "ok, let me balance this out". Worst case, if you're tired, the penalty is that the boss leaves you out of the squad, and your relationship with him deteriorates a bit because you're partying too much, and making yourself ineligible to help the team. Does it make sense? Edit: The developer posted a link to the browser version of the game in the other thread. You can play it here: http://www.newstarsoccer.com/nssmobile.php Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #6 Gabrien, Mar 13, 2012 Ok, note please: there is indeed a vast array of consumable IAP available for the game in the form of "star bux" that is only revealed upon unlocking the career mode. Not happy about this one bit. The game itself seems good so far, and actually reminds me very much of some old classic Amiga games I used to play way back when. More's the pity. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #7 pjft, Mar 13, 2012 Hmm... Curious. But is there any consumable IAP that you _can't_ get with the normal game flow? oooooomonkey Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2011 6,307 0 0 Forge World #8 oooooomonkey, Mar 13, 2012 Wow this is a true compliment to this game. I have absolutely zero interest in football. But I love this. Had a quick go of arcade mode before buying the career mode mad arcade mode really doesn't do it justice. Even without a love for football I can see me playing this quite a bit. Never played a football manager game before so I can't compare it to anything but I'm loving the way the matches play out in text until you have the bll and get your turn. Brilliant so far and a bargain for 69p (think ill be buying the weather and stadium pack pretty soon just because it was so cheap) gncosta99 Member Mar 7, 2012 6 0 0 #9 gncosta99, Mar 13, 2012 It runs on my iPod Touch 2G, and it is a free app for now. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #10 Gabrien, Mar 13, 2012 Well, no, since the IAP is for currency only (in the usual variety of bundles.) Naturally you also gain currency while playing. I am not interested (ever) in getting into an "is it needed?" debate with regard to consumable IAP. (With anybody.) Its presence undermines a game's integrity. Period. I would however be very interested to compare how much money you receive from playing and how much stuff costs, between the iPhone version and Android, (which I understand doesn't contain IAP?) or the PC version for that matter, to see if they actually rebalanced the game to actively encourage IAP for the iPhone. The game itself by the way, is fantastic. I wish I could recommend it (as well as enjoy it) wholeheartedly, without this nonsense. trundley Well-Known Member Oct 29, 2010 384 0 0 #11 trundley, Mar 13, 2012 Great GREAT Game, its become my new OCD thing. Hopefully there will be an update to show how much your player is worth in the game. Its a shame it didnt use realistic money values like the PC version, but hey-ho. Hopefully we will have leaderboards too to see who is the most valued player of all of us. Also, do we always start at the lowest league club, and if so, how long do seasons last and when can get transfered? I'm star rating 2 and have already negotiated my contract to earn 5 a game and a 2 goal bonus. Also, increasing pace doesn't seem to make me run faster during interceptions? Increasing power doesnt seem to make me shoot harder, kick the ball harder? Is this intentional or a bug? pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #12 pjft, Mar 13, 2012 Well, I imagine that it is the same. I can tell you from my experience - and from what I recall. Adding spoiler tags, because in all fairness I think that understanding all of this will spoil the fun a bit, but it might help you compare the balance. Spoiler What you get: Per match you get: - Your wage - The sponsors payment - Your goal bonus * goals Your wage should be similar to your star level, but you can negotiate - and re-negotiate, if you're in good terms with the boss, haven't negotiated recently, and have improved your star level since the last contract. You might be able to get a bit more than your star level, but don't expect much. Yesterday I was star level 11, was earning 13/14 per match (don't recall), and had a 3 star goal bonus. In terms of sponsorships, so far all the ones I had have been 1, 2 or 3 bucks so far. I don't know if they are tiered or not, but I have sponsors for 5 things, and I total 9 bucks in sponsorships each game - 2*1, 2*2 and 1*3. Costs: The drinks cost should be proportional to your overall star level, if I understood correctly how it works. The basic drink should be 3*star level, the second tier 5*star level, and the top one 7* star level. Boots: The most expensive one costs 70, I think. Star Level increase: It depends on your match ratings. You get a rating from -5 to +5 from Boss, Team and Fans. The Fans are the trickiest ones from my experience Still, it's based on these results that your star level increases or decrease. I'm not sure if it's just a plain sum, or if there's some weight factors there. My gut feeling tells me that the balance shouldn't have been changed, but you never know. Let me know how it compares! pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #13 pjft, Mar 13, 2012 Agreed - very happy more people are on board. The pace will make you run faster - I'm at max now (8 seasons in or so) and I can definitely tell a difference. Also, power is the same. I believe it will increase the max-size of the arrow you can use. One quick way to try it is to buy the best boots - 70 bucks for +40 during 40 games is a great bargain. Nowadays I earn 70 bucks in 2 to 4 games, and they're paid for. You'll feel the difference as you go on. As for transfers to upper league clubs, I'm not sure. I started in D2 in Portugal. Then I moved to a different club in Portugal. In the second season at that club we managed to be promoted to D1. Then after a season in D1 I got an offer from another D1 club, one which is usually in 3rd to 7th place. Then after that I moved to two of the top clubs there - still trying to win the league Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #14 Gabrien, Mar 13, 2012 Those sound about the same. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #15 pjft, Mar 13, 2012 Cool - I'm glad to know that. Also, I started to find the game a bit easier as I was moving to the top of the D2 league, but then when I got promoted, I got the distinct feel that the upper league teams play better - namely the goalkeepers will be a bit more responsive, and there will also be wind and more defenders added to the situations, as well as the ball patterns will be a bit more trickier to hit as your star level increases, I believe. Let me know how it works for you. oooooomonkey Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2011 6,307 0 0 Forge World #16 oooooomonkey, Mar 13, 2012 This game is seriously one of the most fun games I've played on my iPod in a while (I'm hooked) and one good point is that I've played quite a bit of it today and haven't had a single crash or anything, which is pretty rare these days lol.
