I couldn't believe the player controlled ship when I first moved the left stick: zero animation? It feels like you're controlling a cardboard cut-out. What a way to break immersion, and what on earth were they thinking? Controls leave something to be desired. On the whole, again, more of a visual toy and something to show off your device. Gameplay-wise this has nothing on the top half dozen or so "proper" games in the genre. your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #10 your personal robot, Feb 9, 2012 Although I also need to get used to the controls... stick appears where you touch but only after your first thumb movement while touching... a bit weird. But besides that, I think I just found my new favorite dual stick shmup! Presentation is awesome, enemies are cool. You can upgrade a ton. There are IAP for more in-game money, but you definitely can ignore that. Brilliant game. I tried the demo on PS3 yesterday (which was friggin intense with the visuals set to 200%) and planned on getting it this weekend. Grabbing this version since most of my music is on the iPhone. Still might get the PS3 version too. It's really surprising cause I assumed there would be a lot of shader code etc that would be hard to port but they did it and it runs really smoothly half of the time on my iPhone 4. Unfortunately, the other half of the time, when things get really intense, the framerate does suffer a bit. Turning visual intensity down to 50% helps and the visuals don't suffer too much from it at all but the game still doesn't stay as smooth as it should. This type of game really requires a constantly smooth framerate to really provide that overwhelming synaesthetic experience. sivyan Well-Known Member Sep 11, 2011 216 0 0 Germany #16 sivyan, Feb 9, 2012 Instant buy! They weren't joking with that seizure warning either, damn lol. This is definitely the best DSS that's come out in quite a long time. So many perks to earn, and the ranking up system is pretty nice. Blasting your own music during the game is pretty sweet. This is the perfect game for leaderboard competition. My favorite release this week so far. Unlocked insane mode, and just played a level while blasting The Motto by Drake (don't judge). Going to say it again: this game is sick. M. Bug Panic is my favorite game by CAVE since it blends bullet-hell and DSS perfectly. About time we get another game that does the same. Can't believe this is $0.99. mreford TouchArcade Writer Jan 28, 2010 39 0 0 Contract Specialist Port Hueneme, CA http://www.toucharcade.com #18 mreford, Feb 9, 2012 Wow. This is an awesome port of the Steam title that I spent way too many nights playing. If you've played It on the PC, it's a damn fine recreation of everything that made it awesome. DSS controls are great too. Everyone else, you owe it to yourself to try it, especially at the current price point.
