Enjoy this renowned game created by Locomalito, author of other gems such as Cursed Castilla and Super Hydorah, on your big or small screen. ► LevelUp - “A great reconstruction of the action-platform genre of the eighties”. ► Indie Games Plus - “The Curse of Issyos is yet another fantastic example of the man’s love for old games and the care he puts into his work”. ► Destructoid - “It's a hard game, but it feels very fair. It's all about watching and learning, and then skillfully pulling off attacks at the right moment”. Defkalion was fishing at the quiet blue sea when he heard the voice of the Goddess Athena. “Hurry up”, she said. “The isle of Issyos has been cursed by the Olympus!” And so, fearing for his daughter Delia, his only family left, the fisherman sails back to his home, where the adventure is about to begin. The Curse of Issyos is a retro-styled action platformer with nothing but the classics of an old 8-bit game: a good bunch of enemies and bosses, linear and open scroll levels, secrets to discover, and a background story inspired by Greek mythology. It doesn't try to mimic a retro system in particular, but it's coherent with its own limitations in the use of colors, sprites and chip sounds. Features: ● Compatible with MFi, XBox One and PS4 controllers. ● Haptic vibration. ● iCloud support. ● Game Center achievements and leaderboards. ● Play in landscape or portrait orientation. ● Look and feel of a console game from 1987-1988. ● Based on Greek Mythology. ● 30+ soundtrack by Gryzor87. ● 7 levels, 9 bosses and more than 40 unique enemies. ● A secret level that can change the curse of the game. * Game texts in English only. Had it on pre-order for a while and I have a lot of faith in touch controls in general, but Cursed Castilla was waaay too hard for me to stick with. Given that's Locomalito's shtick, I decided to pass on this. If, however, you're not concerned with the difficulty, I urge you to pre-order while you still can because there's a launch sale. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #3 psj3809, Apr 29, 2020 I've got this pre ordered as i LOVE retro style platformers. This has the same vibe, although with more colors. I’ll definitely give it a try later. But the game always beats me to the ground psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #6 psj3809, Apr 29, 2020 Yeah i'm a huge Speccy fan. This one reminds me of some classic NES games, can imagine its going to be rock hard but i love the retro feel to this macplash likes this. And for Cursed Castilla... *what a dreamer* I tried to provoke a reaction with my low rate on my swiss app store...nah, nothing happened. In short: super game destroyed by the controls (though top responsive!). Finished once with LOTS of patience. When controls would become customizable or so, i change my rating immediately to 5 stars. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #8 psj3809, Apr 29, 2020 Did it save okay for you ? I completed the first level and i just couldnt continue when i came back to the game later so kinda gave up. If not, you just finished a segment of the first level and not the whole thing. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #10 psj3809, Apr 29, 2020 Yeah good point. Reckon that might be the case. I’ll try again now. Cheers Qwertz555 Well-Known Member May 22, 2010 2,318 29 48 #11 Qwertz555, Apr 29, 2020 @psj3809 This might be it, thanks MC. My starting screen says ”continue” or ”new game” and after i pushed continue this would come up (since i started the game over, i’m on chapter 7 again). Oh, and i played and beat the game in portrait mode. Might have to play this new game in portrait as well. Don’t let Cursed Castilla be the determining factor in picking this up. Even if they’re from the same developer, they’re entirely different beasts. While this is still as agonizingly difficult as Castilla was, it feels a little more cool and calculated. There are no upward attacks, thus the touch controls lean more toward mobile play than just being serviceable. I dunno. The frustration here just makes me want to keep coming back rather than rage quitting like I always have with Castilla. Just something to think about if you, like me, didn’t pick this up because of previous experiences with Cursed Castilla. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
