I'm glad iOS 5 is another day away, so that I can download and play with impunity tonight And now that a game with the Cloud backup system is out, I might finally get an answer to a question that has been burning its way through my mind for a few months now : if we delete an app from our device, is there a way to retain the backup files in the Cloud, so that we might continue to play/work were we left off once we install that app again? (This might sound like a silly question, but in the beta, Cloud save files were actually deleted as soon as the app was deleted from the device, making iCloud backup only usable for the purpose of synching files across devices, not for retaining app-specific data.) badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #5 badmanj, Oct 10, 2011 Does the cloud thing mean my save games will automatically synch between my iPhone and my iPad? magihiro Well-Known Member Mar 26, 2009 824 0 0 #6 magihiro, Oct 10, 2011 That's what it says in the app description. Unless it gets some terrible feedback (but seriously, how could "an old-school 4X space strategy game" get terrible feedback?), I should be picking it up when it hits the Canadian store. Looking forward to reactions, if anybody will be playing this before me. ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #8 ojtitus, Oct 10, 2011 Game looks really nice, I wasn't expecting this until tomorrow night though. If you want advanced strategy for iOS, go buy. Want to play strategy games online with yer pals? Buy! Want to take another small baby step towards a full PC experience on your phone? Yeah, you should probably buy this. I find it very peculiar that neither TA, nor many other iOS sites, have not hyped the stuffing out of Starbase Orion. Perhaps the lack of a gameplay trailer has contributed to the media blackout, but on the other hand, the devs have been very forthcoming with gameplay details and dev logs. Hopefully, now that the game is out, eyes will be turned to these stars. Starbase devs, what little suggestions for improvements I could find so far: Race descriptions have "\n\n" before the paragraph on their abilities. When designing our own races, many racial attribute descriptions are too long for their dedicated space, in some cases making it impossible to read the whole description and understanding the exact effects of the attribute. There is a slight and occasional sluggishness to some parts of the interface, such as the next arrow on the universe size/difficulty screen.
