Going to download it tonight... at least if the early word on it is good, with regard to the controls. Great use of touch in a platform game. I will definitely be buying this one. I'm really sick of saying it, but all virtual buttons on the iPad need to be either "floating" or freely movable. Developers get with it please. In this particular instance this oversight constitutes a serious issue with what is otherwise a flawless game. (And yes, in every other respect clearly superior to the iPhone version.) It's not just this game, tons of iPad titles are flawed in this respect. I'm sure the developers out there must be getting wind of our grumbles, so why don't they just introduce control position editing on their games!? Reckless Racing, Space Miner, and countless others show how well this works! Moving on, the only other point I had a slight issue with is the physics in certain circumstances. For example, you'll notice that some objects (particularly the large urn thingys) kinda float to the ground when pushed off of high platforms. It would be nice if this mechanic was a little better - I like some realism with my fantasies. Just one other little niggle - when pushing stones etc, there's clear air between our winged protagonists hands and the item she's pushing. Use the force Luke... ...or am I being unreasonably picky? In any case, I apologise for nitpicking a couple of minor points from an otherwise great game. Either way, the graphics are stunningly beautiful and the the flight/glide mechanics are particularly good. Physics niggles or not, NyxQuest still gets an 8/10 for me. crunc Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2008 4,575 0 0 #12 crunc, Aug 11, 2011 So glad they released a Lite version for us to try. I'm downloading it now and will test it out later. gtcharlie Well-Known Member Dec 30, 2008 191 0 0 #13 gtcharlie, Aug 11, 2011 Tried out the lite version and was very impressed. I must have big hands because the button placement did not bother me but the ability to map it woud be an improvement. Very tempted to purchase. Any idea how long the gameplay is. That is probably my only concern. crunc Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2008 4,575 0 0 #14 crunc, Aug 11, 2011 I liked the Lite version. It plays very well. I did find that the game is uncomfortable to play if I try to hold the iPad, though - the buttons are shifted over too far, and they are too low on the screen. However, I'm not sure it's intended to be played that way, because it plays really great if you set the iPad on the table, propped up with the smart cover, or whatever. Then the positioning of the buttons isn't an issue. Still, if you do want to hold it while playing, then unless you have quite large hands it is a bit uncomfortable to play (and mine are larger, yet I still find it a bit uncomfortable). Hopefully they address this in an update. However, short of a 99 cent sale on the HD version, I'm probably not going to buy it, but only because I already have this on our Wii and I probably should just finish it there. The first time in ages, where I feel like I am getting something special taking advantage of touch, and not just trying to be a "real game". Great stuff. Fun puzzles, awesome platforming. oliath Well-Known Member Mar 18, 2009 471 0 0 #16 oliath, Aug 13, 2011 Agree. The game is crazy good. Reccomend to anyone at this price. Its beautifully executed - the graphics and physics are wonderfully done and I haven't had a single issue with the controls.
