Hey Luca, amazing game! Quick request that i have not seen mentioned.. A colorblind option would be terriffic. Since the game is so fast it gets really hard for people like me to tell the difference from wood and staves for example..
So when is this going on sale for 99c? Ha, kidding. So between this and Orc:Vengence, this might be the first time I'm buying two games in one week (without an upcoming flight) in a long time. Don't know when I'll get to play both...
I've just "finished" the game with a run at 12M. I have thoroughly enjoyed it! According to stats it took me about 5h of gameplay. What happens when you reach 10M? Spoiler A door at the top right corner opens and if you go through, you get a screen of your little guy outside of the dungeon with the text: you are free. There are then credits and stats scrolling at the bottom of the screen. You can replay to try to improve your score
Great game. You do a great job of dangling the carrot and always having something to do. My one request is to always enable the "replay" button after a match (and before it runs down the list showing you whether you failed or succeeded at a goal). I'm working on a match 3 game right now, and seeing how your game works definitely gave me some inspiration and good lessons on how to do things the right way. Thank you. -jake
The game's already at 31 on the paid charts in the US. No feature by Apple. No coverage on any other site. That's the deal right there. Congrats, my friend. Amazing game and possibly GOTW from this week of great iOS releases.
I'm seeing 49th but that's still INCREDIBLE for a game with no big name publisher or backing. It's gotta just be word of mouth and obviously that word is good! Even Chillingo's ORC: Venveance is only 63rd and you've got a big name publisher there. Congrats! Maybe if you're lucky you'll be able to quit your day job. Well, probably not, but who knows!
Oh, I never look at the overall app charts. I look at the game charts. Word of mouth from TA is pretty powerful it looks like. Like I said earlier, it's also one of the three reviews that Hodapp will be writing this year xP. That has to attest to something!
Dude, you've unearthed a recipe for digital crack. The game's really quite excellent. Thanks for looking into the level bug. I suspect I'll have to start over, but hopefully it'll help out others in the future. I *might* have cleared the point total objective after the white screen at the end, where you can still do a few moves as it's telling you game-over, so I'd check that scenario. Re: hecticness, I'm having issues with that a little, especially on iPhone where it's harder to precisely move the rows/columns. I think you might have a hit-box issue on the rows; I find that there's lots more missed horizontal swipes than vertical swipes, so either I suck selectively or the hit target isn't symmetrical. One suggestion would be to add difficulty levels that scale the speed at which you move backwards when idle (and perhaps monster knockback as well). If idle were calculated as current * scale, and knockback as minimum + ((current - minimum) * scale), it'd be very easy to tune the game. Another nice thing might be a help button for hard matches, or sparkle after delay, or maybe even an item that highlights best matches for N turns--basically anything that helps defray the "oh crap big grid where is it" thing that's going on now. It's definitely hard to find matches when they're spare. But seriously, digital crack. Awesome stuff.
This is a really great match-3. And I have played pretty much all of them on the appstore. Kudos to you doing a great job on this.
Is your total score supposed to go up after every game? Because mine hasn't changed in a long time. Stuck at around 250000.
That's your maximum score, not total. It's also why when you're running there's a finish line at the end (on the right).
Thanks Touch Arcade! I would never ever have tried the game from its looks without your recommendation, but it's really great!
I was lamenting the lack of exposure for this game at the beginning of the thread. Now, after a front page review and 5-star rating it is at the top of the list! Great job Touch Arcade!
@Luca I'm enjoying the game, but my score seems to be stuck 517,124. I did have "Peasent's Tonic" activated for a game or two at one point... Could there be bug regarding its "0 Experience"?
