Gabrien does not pull punches when he has issues so for him to give a thumbs up like this means something, I'm going in! Actually, wait, does the game allow endless continues or is it more like a good ol' roguelike with death ending things?
So far i've been replaying the tutorial level over and over again and dying at the green godzilla. Is the game meant to be that way? Judging by its praises i hope not~
What do you do when Gabrien private messages you telling you that there's a game you MUST get? You shut the hell up and get it.
I suck so much at this game. But damn it is well made and a lot of fun. Hoooray. My surprise favorite game of the week.
What a nice surprise! Just picked this up. Why did i know nothing about this game before today? Really looking forward to digging into this one.
I'd love to see some more impressions. I know I will end up buying anyways after reading more responses (I'm pretty much already sold), but I won't be able to really sit down with it for the next few days.
I agree about the crying part. I see the potential in the game, but it gives me too much anxiety. I don't have any time to enjoy the game, to think about my actions. It pushes pushes pushes and if you're not really good at the genre, you'll endlessly fail and get frustrated. I'm decent at puzzle games, but never took to Chuzzle which is the same idea as this.
Is the actual matching mechanic similar to: 1 - Chuzzle, where you slide rows and columns 2 - Bejewelled, switch 2 item locations 3 - Dungeon Raid, draw a line and connect as many similar items 4 - something else Hey you know what would be nice? . . . a video Thanks.
Is it played in distinct scored sessions or just an ongoing RPG where death just means starting over from the last save spot?
Wow just played a bit of this and it's great. It reminds me of tower of fortune where your character is constantly improving. The game mechanics your moving entire rows either up/down left or right to make a match of three or more. You collect swords to damage enemy's and keys to unlock chests, wood, stone, gold etc all to improve your central castle that them let's you learn new abilities and research and upgrade new weapons. If you liked dungeon raid and/or tower of fortune it's the same kind of thing and rpg/puzzle game mix and done really well. I'm not normally a puzzle game fan so I'd say it has to do something really well to make me play it, and this does what it does really well. But it now. Edit: each session your going into a dungeon just to grab loot (to upgrade your castle) and get as far as possible before you die. It's not game over tho as you take your loot back with you. Also each entry of the dugeon has tasks for you to complete like collect x amount of gold, kill x amount of enemy's.
Weird that some hardcores were so fast to praise this game, yet it lacks some of the most obvious features... like a pause button. The tutorial is not ultimately clear cut on the basics of the game. I had to play over and over and over before I got the jist myself. The difficulty is ridiculously paced. Just a few minutes into playing and the game already challenges you to simply stay alive for 1.5 minutes... It's an okay game. I suggest watching videos and deciding for yourself.
Looks interesting, but honestly didn't even look in this thread until someone mentioned in the GOTW thread. Think the name could really be throwing people off. You can't tell a thing about the game looking at 100000000. I would thought some sort of number game and never would have guessed it was this kind of game. Pretty busy on other games now, but will keep this on my wish list.
I understand that now, but just seeing a number for a game title, it's easy to overlook what kind of game it really is. Just sayin'.
