Universal 100 Rogues (By Fusion Reactions)

    Sounds like a content rich update. +1 for the devs.

    But still no control options, and I hate the control system for reasons I've described in the past. So still not a game I enjoy.

    Chocolate - can you specifically say what it is you want, control wise from the game? Make sure that the system you suggest makes sense, considering that there is ranged combat, clicking-on-yourself for spells, and long hallways you have to run down.

    Tell us what you want and there is a very very good chance it will go into the next patch.

    No point. We've been down this road before...

    But I want an onscreen dpad option (ideally semi-transparent and user-placeable) instead of using the whole screen as a giant dpad. Because it's annoying to move your finger big distances just to change direction, and your finger constantly covers things up. Onscreen dpad would solve that. The rest of the controls can still be the same. Just movement could be optionally controlled from the dpad instead.

    See, you hate it and won't do it.

    Limit direction input area so as not to include where the buttons are up top (where it currently results in accidental movement).

    Give options for blue button function (ranged vs menu)

    RE New Characters: Development of the next rogue will start development after this next patch.

    Starcat, you in particular have been most vocal about new classes, so please bear with us. Remember that when our class is released, it will be with a full new set of animations totaling over 200 new sprite frames, roughly ten completely unique abilities, new mechanics and very probably monsters to make it more unique compared to other classes. To the majority of roguelikes, adding a new class is a matter of drawing, at most, one new sprite and tweaking some stats. Of the few that do entail more than stat tweaks, most have been in development for years.

    I'm sorry we can't get them out sooner. I really am.

    In the meantime, the existing classes are getting some interesting rebalances in the next patch. Crystal Caltrops does a lot to change how the fairy plays.

    RE Retina Support: It isn't really necessary with pixel art, since the 16-bit resolution is intentional.

    Hey ya also I wanted to be clear - we're already done and shipping 2.0, so any new control options that we code in won't be in for that patch, I meant the next patch.

    And speaking of the next patch, the next major project I think we're starting on is the new character class, the Skellyman Scoundrel. We still have a little bit of issues to work out before we definitely start on her but that's our next major plot point.

    And yeah Retina support is silly talk but the rest of what you guys are saying is solid. Someone said something about "Swiping" ? What exactly do you mean?

    Swiping is Fargoal's movement style, where a swipe in a direction moves in that direction, no matter where you swipe on the screen. In my experience (and the people I've talked to about it) it can frequently lead to relatively small errors. I, at least, end up moving diagonally when I mean to move horizontally or move much further than I want to (which is by no means the developers fault; touch events get lost sometimes, and everyone swipes differently).

    Fargoal easily withstands these kinds of errors because most of the combat is one-on-one, and movement is largely in one direction for long stretches of time. The same system would be frustrating in 100 Rogues, when turning in hallways occurs so frequently and moving the wrong direction in combat can give a monster an opportunity to cut off your path to an exit. When running is your only option, such a mistake could cost you your life.

    Awesome. Can't wait! My suggestion is, take your time with Skellyman and any other characters for the next patch, so you can get it as right and as stable as possible. With this latest update, we will have PLENTY of content to enjoy and get through. Btw, GREAT WORK!!!

    Suggestion..

    Have you guys ever thought of having an optional landscape mode? with a D-pad in place of the attack button and an attack button in place of the skip button (mabbe a smaller button for skip someplace else?~) Maybe you could work on this after the Skellyman update? i would be nice to see landscape real estate.
