This is one of the few games that keeps calling me to come back for another trip down. Each time you learn from your mistakes and each time you get a bit deeper - and somehow the denizens will manage to kick your ass. If you're still on the fence about this one, allow me to kick you off.
With the UI, perhaps we could choose between the blue button being either the menu or shoot? Say, a preference to swap their positions? I've had some Quabbus problems, but not sure what triggers it. Last time it was with a Crusader on Bandit Hole 3...
I asked for something like this on the 100 Rogues forums, and they said they would consider it. I guess we'll see what happens soon.
Since the release of the new button I've tried to think about alternatives (sorry Dinofarm peeps!) The only other place i could think for the attack button is in the skill pop-up, either on top of or below the character sprite. That way it is a simple double tap action to attack/shoot. I know the button is a boon for the wizard, but the attack button just kinda sits there for the crusader. Maybe I just miss the big blue @?
I was a huge advocate for the shoot button back before it was put in. I like the new one, but like you said, it does sit there with the crusader.
I agree that it is crucial for the wizard... I used to misstep when shootin my wand all the time (thank goodness for context!). Which leads me to another question: how many people use the bows? I havent equipped one since 1.0.3... (i just throw my arrows)
I use bows occasionally. It's hard to find a good chance to with the loss of a shield + turns. Throwing arrows is a lot less accurate than using the bow
Whats the deal with the floating cat head? It just followed me around getting in the way, it caused all the enemys near it to drop swords (that had no menu screen info) every time I hit them or it, it only seemed to be damaged by magic but after lots of hits still wasn't dead... ...working as intended?
Same with me.... Swords lying around and when I pick them up, they don't have a descrition (nor name or stats), just a blank box. Sure this is a bug (as always with this game). Additionlly, on my last run, I went into a floor and came up in a very small room. A cat head followed me and blocked the way out (damn, I should have made a screenshot), so I was stuck. No way out! So I starved hitting the cat and doing 0 damage. The cat things seem very annoying to me and not very well planned and implemented. BTW, when I was stuck, I just wanted to end the game and begin an new one. But there is no menu option for that. That's why I had to hit the cat until I finally starved. very annoying iPhone 4, 32GB, 4.0.1
Just curious: how'd you get stuck? was the room only one tile wide? As long as you had a 2x2 to work with it should have been possible to get out eventually. If you keep moving, it eventually should move in a way that lets you out.
Yeah same thing happened to me, dropped swords with no descriptions. Also, on a later level, I found swords with (null) on them and also had no descriptions. And despite my attemps I can't seem to buy anything from the store, my game always crashes.
Game Impressions Tried the game for the first time since it made me rage at release. My first playthrough - slaughtered by lag and choppiness at the first level of the dungeon. I've visited the new shop, killed some monsters, game started to lag, music died, my hero began teleporting 2 tiles at a time. Descended to the second level, music started to get choppy and the app just closed. *sigh*. When will this game achieve a state of being "fit for release" ? Ipod touch 2g here. I won't even bother complaining about the 4 second delay between clicking "play" at the challenge screen and the loading screen. I would really like a refund.
I'm really not sure what's up with your gameplay experience. I've had 100 Rogues since the second update they made for it. My gameplay has been nothing short of splendid. I've had two crashes ever, and just a few minor well known bugs. I played it originally on my 3gs and now on my 4. No problems with the new version yet, other than the nameless swords that drop when I throw items.
I've never had issues like this on my 2nd gen iPod Touch. Are you running the latest iOS? Also, when was the last time you restarted your device?
From day1 I've wondered why this is. I frequently home button and new game when it's clear a run is not going to pan out. Despite everything else, this is pretty much my biggest beef with this troubled, yet very enjoyable game.
Oh so it seems that only I was graced with those bugs, that's some bad luck. Restarted before running the app, got the latest ios. Well I'll try redownloading the app then.
Not necessarily. I've gotten sporadic reports from people of unreasonably choppy animation. The devices have been iPhone 3GS, unjailbroken iPad, unjailbroken iPhone 3G, Jailbroken But I've spoken with many people with the same hardware configuration that do not experience these issues. The devices I test on are 1st Gen iPod Touch 2nd Gen iPod Touch iPhone 3G iPhone 3Gs iPad none of which are jailbroken, and none of which experience these problems. I openly admit that the framerate is not what it could or should be one devices 3G and before, but it is playable on those devices, to say the least. Memory limits are still reached and exceeded, and I've juggled my feature deadlines with optimizations for pre-3GS devices to the best of my ability. I haven't yet come across a device that experiences particularly heinous issues, but apparently they are out there, and there's not much I can do until I test on and develop for one myself.
I had this problem after 1.3 on my 2g touch only when it was jailbroken. Reset it updated and re installed and it runs fine. Still does. However I have experienced what you are stating with other games.
Crash Bug on iPad? Wes, Did you guys catch the crash bug on the iPad from 1.05 that occurred when you shut the drawer to the right? I'm paranoid about playing because it seems every time I get a good one going I crash and lose it BTW I did play through 1 game on the new one without the crash but sometimes I can get through a couple.
