Just crashed for me on the loading screen for the 3rd floor, using the wizard, no shields picked up. It's weird how people react differently to the problems, yeah I just had my game cruelly cut short, but I'm still loving it It needs to be addressed, but damn, I waited so long for this, I'll just treat it like a beta testing experience.
My main problem with the current scheme is that your fingers can get in the way of the action and you have to keep tapping different parts of the screen for basic movement. When playing on an iPad it's even worse since the screen is larger... your fingers have to move quite a distance just to go in the four different directions. I understand you didn't make this game with the iPad in mind but that (likely) simple addition would be much appreciated by your customers who want to play 100 Rogues on their iPads.
And in the near future we'll all buy crappy betas, just because the art style is nice and the hype machine went well I like to have working products and if it takes years to finish it.
Before they get to feature requests, they really need to work on a stable build of the game. I have to say: this is very disappointing. I like the game a lot better than Sword of Fargoal (and I like SoF a lot), but clearly there's something really wrong with this version. I hope the fix comes through quickly and we don't end up with another Astro Ranch situation. EDIT: I'm with robot, BTW: I don't mind waiting on additional content, but I do expect a game to work with a minimum of crashes. 6 lost games in the space of a couple hours is not my idea of fun.
Why we even talking about having an ipad version when this iphone version isn't even playing out smoothly?
Bug notice! I experienced a bug after I used a fire scroll on a mob where afterwards a handful of random tiles lost complete pixel and turned black throughout the entire level until I progressed to the next stage. Everything else played fine but I felt this should be noted.
So, this is really not just one bug fix, we are talking about... I guess, it may take a while until everything is working fine
I guess I'm glad I didnt impulse buy this (was about to, too) after reading of squarezero having deleted this... well, i'll wait
Yeah, but I got hi hopes that the Dev(s) will address them all as we state them in a timely manner and get them implemented so we all can enjoy 100 rogues with no further issues; just additional content and polishing. I still find myself diving right back in.
Keep in mind that you don't need to touch the edge of the screen to move; a touch anywhere that doesn't have another action with priority (attacking / picking up items, etc.) will move you, so you can touch right next to yourself. On paying for the continued beta, so to speak, I really wish we could have taken the time to iron these issues out, but for more reasons than I can name we couldn't delay another day, and you all didn't deserve to have to wait another day. I can only promise that this is a short period at the start of a long, long lifetime of mutual support for this inspired game.
Agreed. I love the devs, and the fact that they're actually working on a fix (unlike plenty of big name companies that would wait a couple of months), but that's no excuse for an incredibly unfinished game. That comes off as harsh... really, I do love the game. Definitely the best non-traditional roguelike (others I would include in said category being Sword of Fargoal and The Island of 8-Bit Treasures), but with all the delays and whatnot this game had, I expected at least a playable game on day one.
Yeah, pretty much. Bugs are only going to increase with game and platform complexity. I'm not saying you should buy stuff before researching how well it works, but in the few cases where you trust the developer to fix the problems it makes little difference if you spend the money now or later. Think of it as a preview.
Installed it on my 3GS, booted it up. Played about 3 minutes and it crashed. Rebooted the phone, loaded it up again, and it hard crashed after 4 minutes. Assuming this is happening to everyone?
I should make it clear: when they iron out the bugs, this will be the dungeon crawler to beat in the App Store. Just before I crashed the last time I went through a nail-bitting brawl on level 4 that was just epic. I would have been very happy to pay full price for a game like this on the DS.
Let's not forget that if you all decide to delete the game and dissuade others from buying it, we essentially have less beta testers and it'll take longer for the developers to find and address the issues. We'd all have liked a perfect game on day one, but I don't mind helping to fix what could well be one of the best games on the App Store.
I don't think it's fair to complain that a delay would have been better, because at least this way we can play it (if only briefly) as opposed to if it were delayed again, in which case we'd just have to wait. Plus, even with another delay many of these glitches would most likely still be present, so at least this way we can point them out to the developers.
I just don't understand, with everyone crashing out here, why is it that the game can get submitted with the devs having stable runs and all that? Are we not on the same planet or what?
I hope the bugs are easy to fix. Really a lot to love about this game. It's nearly the feel of Diablo to me, with the skills and the inventory system, if not for those bugs. About paying for beta: please, some of you, stop trying to justify it. It's not right if this is what's going on. You shouldn't ever have to pay to be part of beta testing that you didn't expect or agree to be a part of.
Oh yes, I am also expeting this to be a game of truly epic proportions, that's why I said I'll wait, and not skip entirely. Just makes me doubt about TA's impressions and how long they played this o.o... Also I, too, am 1 that'd love the reasons behind this only being able to be released today. Can't wait for the bugless "full" version.
