Well, after months of waiting I finally picked this up. I'm sure by now, and with upcoming 1.06 it's fairly bug-free. I'm glad to see that the dev didn't stop working on it, and I'm posting this to let him / them know that there are peopl who will wait, so it's always worth it to work on software post-release. Thank you for keeping roguelikes alive my friends.
Thank you, I sincerely hope you enjoy it! 1.06 is in review at this point, but 1.03 and 1.05 both spent a full weekend and early the next week In Review. I'm hoping as hard as you all.
Yeah, I'm very glad I purchased this game. It's been wonderful to see it advance as far as it has in such a short amount of time. One of the best iPod purchases i've made
Seriously addicted to this game. Played about 20+ games before finally reaching Satan in normal mode. Believe it or not, I actually made it with a Crusader using a +2 wooden sword, a +2 buckler, and +2 leather armor! Of course, by the time I reached Satan, I had already wasted all my heal meals, health potions, and energy potions in Dungeon levels 3 and 4. Needless to say, I got my arse kicked in 4 turns. I'll try again when the update gets here (hopefully the shop will make the game's difficulty level a "tad" bit less unforgivable). Can't wait for the extra 10 levels, new classes, new monsters, and new items! (In that order). I think this game as it is now really fills a special niche which I never even knew I would enjoy. Every time I fire up the game, I know the experience will be challenging yet, due to its short length, more enjoyable and less of a grindfest. I know it all comes down to about 90% luck 10% skill, but I enjoy it nonetheless! I would even suggest adding the 10 levels as an option, so that a gamer who wants to experience the game "as is" and not have to slog through 10 more levels can do so if he/she wanted to. Can't wait for 1.0.6! And 1.0.7 and beyond, for that matter! -Flood
Start off on Easy for your first couple of games as there are all sorts of subtleties, even if already a fan of Roguelikes in general, that you'll really just need to experience for yourself firsthand to really get a feel for how it all works together. I also find the Crusader a far easier class to train with and that trying out a few of the challenges first might be a fun way to see some of the game's mechanics in action right off the bat.
There is also a strategy guide for the game available on the 100 Rogues website. It is not updated with information about the newest version, but it is a good starting point for learning about the various weapons, skills, and the abilities of different monsters. Have fun!
Really impressed with the game so far, glad I purchased it. I'll leave a good review on the app store after a few more hours of playtime.
yeah its definitely a great game! i bought this, then purchased fargoal later. 100 rogues opened my eyes to rougelikes, and so far no others have come close to being as fun. fargoal isn't my game, but 100 rogues is awesome! any notes on the next characters release? i r excite!
Whoa, that was sudden. iTunes connect tells me 1.06 is up, though I don't see it on the App Store yet. Expect it in the coming hours!
update 1.0.7... Update 1.0.6 downloaded! Will play later on tonight. So...what's planned for update 1.0.7? New levels? New characters? Both? I can't wait already!!! -Flood
