Was there ever a sale for this game?

The devs have continuously stated that they plan to add content to this for a long time. I don't see how a sale could factor into their production levels. 4.99 is a steal... but having access to these forums and other app store game forums has led me to believe that video gamers are the most self entitling hobbiest around. With a good 90% of them having no idea of the amount of time and money it takes to facilitate production on even crummy games let alone good ones.

    ...This is a good thing?

So I should not install the new update?

No do it... it totally revamps game play. Its a lot smoother of a game now as far as that is concern. Graphically... I am not sure if he is saying the same thing as me, but it lags each move, making each turn transition feel like a transition.

It doesn't run bad at all and isn't that noticeable once you play a bit.

So, some good, and some questions...

First the good. GREAT UPDATE. Runs smoother, and removes most of the minor glitches that I still noticed. Only crashed once over three hours of gameplay. Well done Devs!

A question... did you make the game significantly easier? I've never even sniffed Satan before. On my first game through the update, I was on Dungeon Level 4, then made a boneheaded move and died. On my second game, I actually defeated Satan... EASILY with three thrown energy potions. Both games were farther than I had really gotten before. Skeletons died easier... knights attacked slower... fewer monsters per level... Did I just get really, really lucky twice in a row, or were there significant difficulty tweaks?

Also, a potential incredibly minor glitch.... there appear to be numbers below my quick-use item bar (the four you can tap from the main game screen). Further, there are numbers underneath some of those items that I can't entirely see, and also don't correspond to the items I have in the quick-slots.

Overall, great update. I'm really, really happy I bought this game earlier. Incredibly fun. Those of you who have been holding out, now is the time to buy it.

Just reinstalled this after the last update...

What the hell is going on with the Menu and Map being smashed into the same corner? I used to check the map constantly but now I just end up opening up the menu. It's incredibly frustrating.

The menu should be accessed by tapping the status bar on the top left and the map should stay on the top right. Fitt's Law has stated for decades that corners are the easiest to acquire part of a screen and make a perfect place to implement a single button. Two small buttons in the same corner require the user to stop and think to acquire the correct one and causes user errors when there isn't a need for any at all

I noticed this too. Also, my inventory seemed touchier than usual in terms of accessing items. I found myself mis-tapping much more frequently.

I was going to finally take the plunge on this game and cough up the monies, but given the feedback on this latest update, looks like the bugs are still there, the game still isn't finished, and now the UI has been made worse.

Guess I'll wait some more. :(

I haven't played for a few updates either, but it definitely is better than it was. However I do miss the ability to overlay the map while you move and the map and menu buttons are a bit crowded. These are both very minor issues though.

Edit: So if you have a full inventory, throw say, a throwing knife, then try to pick it back up and can't due to a full inventory, isn't this a stacking bug? Because I am having this problem.

Edit 2: Also can't change your equipped items with a full inventory. You have to drop something, then change whatever you want to equip, then pick up whatever it was you dropped. This could be intentional, but it feels a little off to me.

I also noticed the map / menu buttons were a little cramped, I wonder what was wrong with the old layout that they felt the need to change it?

The overlay map is something that hasn't existed since midway through beta; there were significant performance problems related to it (we wrote it in kind of an embarrassingly, fundamentally wrong way). However, the iPad can more than barrel through our poor implementation, so I've enabled concurrent walking while mapping on that device. It's a priority for iPhone, but not a top one (that still goes to items, the shopkeeper, and dammit, people are still crashing :-( ).

The 'Full Inventory' annoyance does still need ironed out, I apologize. What I did fix were problems that lead to multiple stacks of one rock in your inventory and the rare instances when picking up a stackable item merged the inventory item into the stackable one and didn't add it to inventory (i.e. removing items you had from inventory).

Yes, I did get some feedback from testers to this effect on Friday or Saturday, but didn't see it worth resetting our position in Apple's review queue. I'll slide the map button down for 1.06

Could I get confirmation on this and some device stats? The only thing I'd noticed was that my 3G was loading a lot slower... along with every other App on the device after I updated to OS4

When I first started a game, the main character sprite was "laggy" and really jumpy. I quit the game and then closed all other apps running in the background. Returned to the game and it ran smooth as can be. iPod 3G 32, iOS4.

Love the tweaks! Had a couple really fun runs last night. I'm digging the new balance quite a bit!

Well, with those caveats still the game has come a long way and it's really enjoyable. I put it on the back burner but I'm having fun now that I've returned to it again. Thanks for all the dedication in getting it up to snuff.

It's great to have such active and immediate feedback frankly. We gamers are a fickle, demanding (entitled) bunch, but to be able to discuss concerns openly and get honest feedback is refreshing.

I also suck wholesale ass at this game but I imagine I will get better ;)

Don't sweat it! I haven't gotten to the genie without debugging tools since around March! Gypsies and Robots always finish me off...

Most people see this as a game about doing a little better each time, getting a new personal high score, that sort of jazz, but with me and roguelikes I've found that I can have fun once I understood that, after a 700th failure or success, winning (or even getting closer to doing so) just isn't that important.

Just a minor bug report... If I drop items, filling up all available tiles around my hero, and the drop another item (in my case, a buckler) then that item is lost.

I'm seeing some Targets on the tiles of the Dungeon levels. No ranged weapons around. Just kind of odd, but not a big deal at all.

Targets? Like, things you can target with a ranged weapon / skill? If so that's intentionally invisible monsters called unseeables. You can call targeting a phenomenal search skill, if you like.
