Maybe I'm just unlucky then, I always crash around the third floor. Third, fourth sometimes. On top of that, I haven't noticed any improvement in performance on my non-jailbroken third gen Touch. I've done everything to try to fix that -- reinstalling, rebooting, the whole shebang -- to absolutely no avail. As for the price, I'm simply saying that it's ridiculous I paid five dollars (which, keep in mind, is fairly expensive for the App Store) for something I can't use. If this functioned perfectly, I'd happily pay five times that, with nary a regret. Again, I may just be unlucky, but it still doesn't change the fact that I can't play. I'm sorry, I cringe every time I see this. I'm not a developer, but that's because it's not my job. It is, however, their job and I expect them to do it well. That's why I paid for their game. And yes, these are some of the most courteous devs I've ever seen, and I really, genuinely do appreciate that. It's just, on the technical side of things, they don't seem to be getting a lot done. The fact that their are other games on the App Store that are even worse values does not excuse this one. Thank you for perfectly articulating my thoughts -- I agree completely.
I really don't see why people continue to complain about things which have already been noticed and will be fixed. Considering that this game has been out barely a month, it's pretty awesome that the developers have released three patches already. Most developers take weeks, months, or even years before releasing changes to their product. They know what the problems are, and they are going to fix them. They made a mistake in releasing early and they have acknowledged that. End of discussion!
hmm, let assume there is no patches and no promises to fix the game. who the f is going to buy this game then?
Quoting SkyMuffin: response broken down below: "I really don't see why people continue to complain about things" They complain about things because the game is still buggy after a month, when it shouldn't have had this many bugs during release. They have a right to complain. " Considering that this game has been out barely a month, it's pretty awesome that the developers have released three patches already" They wouldn't have had to patch it had they properly debugged it first. Moot. "Most developers take weeks, months, or even years before releasing changes to their product." See above response... Their revisions are bug fixes at this point, not added content / functionality... "They know what the problems are, and they are going to fix them. They made a mistake in releasing early and they have acknowledged that. End of discussion!" No, not end of discussion. This will continue as long as the game's core elements are still buggy. And people like me who are waiting for a properly debugged release will keep asking, post-patch, how things are running.
well, developers are interested in success of their game. so of course they want or have to fix such bugs like in this game. what he had expected from them? appstore is market, simple. they have to promise and release quick fixes. otherwise the game would be ruined, so there is nothing like "pretty awesome".
They complain about things because the game is still buggy after a month, when it shouldn't have had this many bugs during release. They have a right to complain. Yes, you can complain all you want, but it isn't going to help anyone. Sitting here and griping about problems which the developers already know about is not going to do anything productive. They wouldn't have had to patch it had they properly debugged it first. Moot. See above response... Their revisions are bug fixes at this point, not added content / functionality... That they have made three releases in such a short period of time shows that they are dedicated to the product (not to mention their presence on the forums here). This is not a moot at all. There is a very distinct difference between coming here to report bugs, and coming here to question the developers' motivations. There is more than enough evidence that they do care about their customers and that this isn't a throwaway game, but people have chosen to assume the worst instead.
Is anyone noticing more favorable drops in this version? I've been getting a higher quantity of useful equipment for the crusader in 1.0.3, as opposed to rocks, rocks, daggers, leathers and rocks.
From my PoV. People complaining are the 90% of these posts (overestimated exageration, but bear with me here). If people didn't complain, no one would even know about this game, at least they're getting *some* publicity.
I agree. Guys it's time to bring this thread on its tracks. Nobody here the game is perfect as it is, no doubt bugs exist, and i think it's a right for everyone who has the game to report bugs and problems, so the devs can find solutions and fix things, but if we continue to bring only complains, IMHO we won't go much further. Again, i respect every post and every thought, but as SkyMuffin said it's not productive to repeat post after post always same things devs already know, because they know 'em and are working on them.
Sorry Khamous but i completely disagree. I remember the talks about 100 Rogues so much before it was on the Store, and sincerely i don't think that complains and all that sort of things can "help" selling the game. That's of course my opinion.
Yes yes, you have a point there, I'm not saying this game was w/o hype and stuff. But with these many bugs, the hype would've been gone by the 3rd day, what keeps bringing this topic up are mainly complainers. My point is not that the complains are good publicity, my point is that the complains are what keep bringing the topic up, to more people to see it every day, and decide for themselves if the game is good. Do I like the game? Yes, I love the 1st part up to the genie, then the difficulty spike makes it troublesome to me (always play wizard, no holy attacks vs skeletons). But is the game living up to the hype? IMO, not really... I expected much much more and it needs way more updates and stuff to be *worth* 5 bucks, appstore standard wise.
I have! Been through maybe a dozen games now with the new update. Still not ONE crash, and the drops are MUCH better! I've been seeing all kinds of different stuff, +Xleathers, Beetle armour, Axe of this & that etc. Sure you get rocks and daggers once & a while, but that's part of the game. Does it bug me that I've seen Satan, one time in all the games I've played? Not really. Once again, it's all part of the game. I dig this game and I think most of the people here do too or they wouldn't be so vocal about it. I've read the whole thing and I gotta say my favorite post was from the guy who said he's played it a hundred times yet still thinks it has no replay value. Pure comedy!
I agree, the distribution of items seems "better" balanced than before, but maybe it's because I'm more experienced now??
so bring it on its tracks by realizing its a somewhat meh roguelike which is only complimented by people who haven't ever played a good roguelike before or who are so enthused about the iphone becoming a legitimate gaming platform that they blindly praise any original content?
Its labeled as an arcade rogue like... I would say the same principles that were applied to WoW to make it accessible to people who haven't played MMOs before were used here. You could say that it is a watered down version, but it also has a different mindset / end goal vs other rogue likes. But hey, if you can come up with another roguelike that was made this easily accessible by video gamers who don't play them go for it. But then it brings up the argument of how roguelikes as a genre haven't had a large mainstream success because your average gamer finds it frustrating and hard.
yes, and what? i just wanted to point that there is nothing f amazing if developers make promises to fix bugs and release quick fixes (actually only started, because patches were minor and with new bugs). it is normal if they want to sell the game.
this game doesn't do away with the so-called "frustrating" aspects of roguelikes, hence the name 100 rogues. it just does away with the stuff that makes them fun, such as randomization, interesting enemies, and a good use of strategy.
