we were just stating the fact that a game can be bug free or full of bugs regardless of how much money you throw at it.. the guy i was quoting made a ridiculously stupid statement about how its an indy company and how bugs are to be expected. which is a ridiculous statement.
Yep yep, I understand the argument just fine. I'm just wondering if someone can answer my questions so I can form a better informed opinion in relation to the rhetoric that we are presented with here.
OK, I bit. I really wish you would stop shooting your mouth off because your credibility has already hit rock bottom. What jscro posted (and what you duly quoted) is actually an argument against what you're stating, because it proves that even when developers have enormous amounts of time and money to spend on bug fixing and testing, they STILL can have things overlooked. If this can be true of larger companies, then why are you expecting more of a much smaller developer of only a few people? But even that is a deviation from my initial point. My point is this: yes-- most people who have posted to this thread have understood that there are bugs and sought a developer response. The devs have responded and let us know that patches are already in the pipeline with apple, with 2 already released. And that's that; we can't really ask more of the devs than what they have done and are doing, can we? It's not like they've shirked their responsibilities, or ignored us completely now is it? They are certainly doing far more than most other devs, that's for certain! They've even tried to reply to each one of your many posts in this thread, despite how tedious (oh, how I know) that must have been. What would be great is if we can somehow get this thread back on track with constructive posts that are actually of benefit to the developer rather than incessant bickering about things they are already addressing and fully aware of. What you are engaging in is borderline trolling and it really must stop.
I completely agree, since i always said how developers are active on this forum, and that's not an easy and assumptive one. But at the end, as you say, this thread must return to its origins, not a place where the same things that everybody sees, and that developers know well, are repeated every time. Constructive comments and suggestions should be the standard here. Also, i never see from the developers a violent or impolite reply, they are trying every way to please everyone of us, answering as soon as they can (even in PM). For me, i take my hat off to them.
100% true. Some pages ago i mentioned 2 small item-related bugs and both of them were answered and/or fixed for 1.03... I also think the content is just fine... 100 rogues is already the game i spent the most time with at all (next to space miner). But starcats suggestion with more special items is a really good one. Question: what's the highest rank a weapon can get with weapon focus? My highest was rank 3 ("you mastered your...").
Wow, so this thread has turned into something of a trainwreck. I certainly wouldn't expect anyone just coming to it to read through all this. Any idea what's taking 1.03 so long to get through review? To hear that previous updates took hours and see that this one looks like it'll take more like a week seems a little bit odd.
Not even the slightest clue. I wouldn't be surprised if the review team has weekends off, so the slip from Friday to Monday was justified... maybe. It will be live before I know anything has changed, but I'll post here when it does.
If the update has actually been listed as "In Review" for the last few days rather than simply "Waiting for Review" then it is a bad sign. The most likely reason to see a game stuck at the final "In Review" for days rather than hours is that they are rejecting the update, but haven't gotten around to wording their reasons why yet. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this may be the case here. If its "In Review" and doesn't clear out soon (either rejected or ready for sale by tomorrow), you might want to reject it yourself, roll in your next set of upgrades and changes, and re-submit.
Hm, can't imagine why; nothing's changed apart from the listed fixes. We'll be contacting Apple later today if there's no update.
It could also be slowed down due to the approaching WWDC and OS4 madness. Probably pretty busy over there at Apple.
To clear this up a bit, our game isn't *about* items. Our game is really about the tactical relationship between mobs of monsters and player skills. Items are just a little extra somethin' in 100 Rogues; indeed, we could probably re-design the game to have far *less* items, and if we were to do a sequel ever, that'd almost certainly be what I would do. Perhaps this would help send the signal that the game isn't about items. Anyway, with that said, more items are on the way, including unique artefacts. Actually, we're planning on naming a few of our uniques after some awesome Roguelike developers/names, as a sort of nod to them. We've already got David Ploog (Lead Designer of Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup), Roudain Joubert (AKA Nandrew, Creator of Desktop Dungeons), and John Harris (Editor from @Play, a really great roguelike column on GameSetWatch) all submitting ideas for their own items. As for some of the regular items, here's a taste of what's coming very soon: Gingerbread - Gives 50 food and 20 EP. Dropped by the Gingerbread Man. Yellow Potion - Fills HP/MP Hand Grenade - Throwable, creates rocket-style explosion Brass Knuckle - 70% stun chance (1 turn) War Hammer - Requires Heavy Armaments, 40% knockback, 2 handed Blake and I have been working hard on design for the Skellyman Scoundrel as well, among other stuff, like the HELL monsters, for when HELL becomes fleshed out as a full world.
All sounds good. Can't wait to see it all unfold. I have put off playing 100 Rogues until this next update(still have hope though). What I really want to see is more levels/bosses next to the additional class(es). Thanks for your constant updating.
Yeah, well we're adding Hell at an update in the next few months, and when we do that, the Dungeon will get its own mysterious boss. Who could it be?
maybe the game crashed serveral times while it was tested at Apple? sorry, I could not resist... I actually hope the update will go live soon as I will not play the game anymore till it is more stable...
