Just drag the item off the edges of the menu pane (i.e. to the darkened sides). No worries, it isn't obvious at first.

I'm wondering about knocking up quick F.A.Q ... any other gameplay issues or, um, frequently asked questions that could be included?

Had a nice stable run up to Dungeon 2 just then. Sometimes stackable items split in both the quick slots and inventory, but with some dropping & picking up they merged again. No disappearing rocks like before - yay! Good progress:)

I just don't see the point inplaying right now. Why bother? Can't name my character and leaderboards are full of people who cheated.

...the option "throw" gives you the chance to throw the selected item at one of the rogues. So, choose something, like a knife, and then you'll be returned back to the dungeon and any possible targets are highlighted within a red square. Sometimes, (I think?) you'll be able to pick up the item again for use a second/third/etc... time. :)

If you wish to discard an item, then yes, you just drag it off the menu to the sides. Note, if there is no space around you, or you've already done this with a few items then you won't be able to do this until you've found some space - nice touch! :D

Hats off to Keith and the team of Dinofarm Games.
Keith's admission of the game as "buggy" is a breath of fresh air to me.
I've played so many games in my life that i can't remember, and seldom, very seldom i've read honest and simple sentences like his.
I like 100 Rogues, i like it very much, and like evryone else here i want to have a game that works flawlessy and smooth like silk. But i'm not a programmer, or a graphic, or a coder, and when i say "These things don't work, i can't rename my character, main button is not working and i'm blocked in a screen etc. etc.", then i think also about the amount of work and stress these guys are feeling right now. When Keith says those things, i'm sure that 100 Rogues will be great. I fully support the idea of a well refined game, and when he speaks about originality and thought as important as stability i think he's right.
Two major updates in ten days are a clear sign that developers aren't leaving us on our destiny (and believe me, many developers on the App Store did it many times...), and this 1.02 update, even with bugs and fixes yet to be corrected, it's a precise step ahead.
Also, the fact that Keith & co. are always here on this forum to explain and inform us about news and patches comin' is always appreciated.
Keep up with your work guys.

yep, can not rename rogue too. developers coded really in the very twisted way, if they introduce such bugs when they just fixed some other bugs. and how many bugs will be there when they will add new stuff...

I've tried throughout the last 12 hours to reset the scores, but cocoslive just keeps handing me errors. I've put a message out to the server lord, and they'll be wiped as soon as possible.

ataloss, thanks for the help!!! I didn't even realize that's what the "throw" option was for. It makes the game a little easier for me, but still challenging.

I am sorry, but you seem to think that reviews are their to service the developers, or sell the games. Reviews are for the consumer, not the developer. They are there to help the consumer make a more informed decision. If the game is bad or has problems, the review should point them out, and those should be what is highlighted, and definitely not brushed off or ignored. The harm done is to the consumer if they publish a review that ignores glaring issues and makes the consumer go out and buy a buggy game. Here the S2P review is leagues better than TAs optimistic advertisement, which managed to ignore all the bugs, and only reported them in a (hint*) update. Damage done to the dev is fair play, the dev should be putting out good games. And if the Dev made a mistake, they can fix it, and they are lucky that S2P is willing to go back and update their reviews accordingly.

I like the look and style of this game, but I cant be bothered to play it until it is complete.

    Here is the solution

Down, Use Whack of Glory Skill to below, Down, Left, Left, Left, Throw mana potion two step right, Use Whack of Glory Skill to above

I agree. TA is my first choice for reviews, but when you compare their 100 Rogues article with the impressions found in this topic, it's almost a completely different game. Had I not looked here first and then purchased it knowing there were bugs I'd have been slightly annoyed. I appreciate the honesty STP put into the review, they ignored the hype, and rather than ride the excitement and write what people wanted to hear, they wrote about what they (and all of us) are actually experiencing.

Nevertheless, the game is great, and holds a ton of promise. STP should update their review when they see fit.

Will the upcoming shop just be a menu where you can buy/sell items or will it be a physical place you can enter? I'm hoping it's the latter so you can engage in the time-honored (and dangerous) roguelike practice of ripping off the shopkeeper!

Heheh, indeed, that would be fun. It's a possibility for the future, but it's far, far more complex of an implementation than the one we have in mind, and as you can see we've already got our hands full, and want to get new classes and other updates out to you sometime in the near future.

For these reasons, we're going with a single screen, similar to the Equip screen, that has Quabbus' items (Quabbus is the name of the vendor, for some reason). You click on a few, and click buy, if you have the gold. No selling, no trading, you can only buy with gold. For this reason, buying food will be a tough choice: "ahh, crap, I gotta buy food, but I wanted to buy _COOLITEM_".

Also, no selling means it doesnt turn into a Diablo-style hoarding sim.

It's alright. I don't think I ever managed to steal anything from the shopkeeper in Shiren without getting myself killed.

    Here is one thing...

I can collect potions as many as i want at genie stage. It means I can make my health over 100, even more than 300.

You can see the screenshot at http://www.iappgame.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=100rogues&wr_id=35

It makes me untouchable, because health regen is much more than reducing health by 0 belly.

If it is not intended, please fix it. :)

PS > Good to hear that shop is comming !

I think that these devs are in way over their head. Good rogue-likes are few and far between the masses of crud that yearly competitions churn out.

Nethack, Crawl etc are popular because they can take many different concepts and have refined them to the n'th degree. Just because you can generate a random dungeon and fill it with enemies doesn't mean it hangs together as a whole.

This game has taken a very long time to come out (in iPhone terms) and yet is a very simplistic game which relies on the rogue fan's dedication to failure without bringing anything much to the genre as a whole.

The much vaunted graphics look very, well, basic, too.

All this is aside from the bugs. The people making this have bitten off too much and I'm not expecting to see 100 rogues listed amongst the premier Rogue-likes even after any updates.

I hope they prove me wrong but it doesn't look good.

The game concept is good - a sort of arcade rogue game.

The execution, though is very, very bad so far. I have never played a game with so many bugs. Hell, it might be the buggiest piece of software I ever bought.

I still play it though, at least for some time, because I like the concept. It's turn-based so I can be interrupted anytime when I play and it's good for short play sequences.

But seriously, nobody should ever release something with so many obvious and not so obvious bugs. I just had a new one a few minutes ago : my character just stopped regenerating HP and SP. This happened after I had to quit the game during the first level launch because it was stuck there. And I'm not even talking about crashes, UI bugs, controls etc.

95% of these bugs would have been noticed with some simple playtesting. I say that as a pofessional game developer (though not for iphone but PS3/360) who has to make stable and usable code everyday... I know it's not always easy but it's possible.

The game definitely has potential, but it's too frustrating in its current state. I hope the devs are using some bugtracking system to record all the problems (there are some good enough free ones available online) and try to fix stuff before thinking about adding new things. Otherwise, this game will only be known as "that very buggy iphone rogue-like game". Which would be a shame, really...
