game is good.. just feels a tad undone, like a beta of sorts.. i killed a red rat and the game crashed on me, so yes, im upset.
the control scheme is definitely not fine. about 1 out of 100 times the game will do something i had no intention for it to do. such as, i will tap to shoot an arrow or cast a spell, but the game reads it as i'm trying to walk forward, so i move right into the monster i am trying to attack. 1 out of 100 doesn't sound that bad, but in this game one stupid move is all it takes to put an abrupt end to a dive, and these mis-inputs always happen at the worst possible time. i don't think a d-pad will help much, but a lock movement button would be nice, or some way to confirm where you are tapping.
this is roguelike game, u are not supposed to finish it! u can, but only if you are lucky, like find food, good equipment etc, hehe. of course this one is not that hardcore as Rogue touch or iNethack but still it's the same class.
Saying not to change things isn't a suggestion. "Advice" is maybe a better word? I don't know... I haven't slept in almost 24 hours... But a suggestion is a plan or idea, you could argue about it, but I don't think the negation of other's suggestions counts as an idea or a plan. It's more of an opinion. Anyway, the control scheme is _not_ fine. We don't need a d-pad, but the current system needs some tweaks (once the huge glaring bugs get worked out). Like everything else in this game, the control system feels and acts in a very beta way for me.
I didn't claim to speak on behalf of most people. But if you want take it like that, so be it. This forum is full of people like you going around nitpicking at words. Last time I look, bringing up new ideas isn't a crime, nor some kind of slight against fans who want things as they are. I'm a fan of such games; I can play the game as it is. I don't see why people like you and GTX love to make snide comments when someone makes a suggestion you don't like. Is it suppose to some kind of macho tough-guy thing to keep trumpetting on how good you are at this game whenever someone expresses some difficulty with the game? "Ooh I can go down five levels on one piece of roast." I can one up you but I wouldn't bother since you've already made up your minds I'm a wuss for making suggestions about modifying the food rules. Thanks for unneeded lecture on how this game is supposed to be.
Because what the devs have said is scattered all through multiple threads/forums? If the devs put all their comments in one place that would make too much sense.
Ummm, it is actually doable. One just ends up with an under-levelled character. See - no leet skillz nor overreaction required Was there a poll about this? What is the easy mode like at the moment? I havent tried it because I'm hardcore and stuff.
Actually, a whole bunch of helpful comments are in this here thread. The main problem is that people enjoy having an opinion more than reading. Hence, this very simple collection of developers' quotes to issues people are knotting up their knickers about. So, here we go Lead Designer's Response to Food Issues Any other issues that could use a similar response? I can add them as necessary.
I haven't tried the easy mode myself. No poll about the food, but seems to me like there's complaints every time the food thing is in play. You wouldn't be that badly underleveled so long as you explore the whole level before moving to the next, at least that's what I've found. No real need to linger. If your luck with monster encounters isn't too terrible, that one roast is supposed to be enough. Hunger pangs come around down at level 3 or so.
I like food in the game. I have not had a lot of time to play the game yet, but so far I like it. Controls just need some tweaking. Like for changing facing without moving. (is that even possible right now?)
Confused? Good for you. If you are still looking for a fight, I'm not giving you or anybody else any. So, let's discuss strategy instead.
You are only baffled because you didn't get the response you wanted. maybe we are having communication problems. Just because I can deal with the food mechanics in this game doesn't mean I can't make suggestions about tweaking it.
what are the chances for doing backstab hit? on higher level enemies it works not really often. Some clarification is needed for accuracy. Someone told in this thread that if u kill skeleton with magic that it does not stand up, this is not right. Happens even after dealing with them with the help of magic.
I didn't mean it to be a snide comment or macho-trumpetting, but if you want to take it like that, so be it. I find it hard to believe that you'd constantly die because of hunger after a little bit of practice in the game or this genre. Maybe I'm bit jaded in this issue after all those years in MMO forums, where those with the loudest voices, proclaiming to speak "on behalf of many", don't show any respect to game designers or their fellow gamers who happen to like the game as it is. They just want that game to be the perfect game for them, without thinking how it'll affect others if their wishes come true. They keep complaining on forums, while those who enjoy the game keep playing, until one day the game is changed because devs can't stand the complains anymore, ruining the game for those who were happy with it. Ok, that was an exaggerated example, but I hope you get my point. I also realize that my attitude is bit selfish here. I might've find the perfect game for me here, and don't want it to be ruined. Sorry if I came off harsh on you because of my former experiences. So, if you can't see why people who like the game as it is want to defend the current system, but you think it's ok to throw comments about "elitists" when defending your own opinion, well, then I really can't help you. I hope I made myself clear, as English isn't my first language.
Easy mode is a bit lame IMO, it only lets you play the first five levels, and after killing the genie it says good job, now go play normal mode. A bit unnecessary seeing as your score is already heavily capped in easy mode, I felt a bit cheated when I had to restart (I read the difficulty description as "The first 5 levels are easier, the rest are normal difficulty") Question time, is the dialogue with Satan supposed to just say "I'm Satan!" and then go into the fight? It made me lol at how it felt like a bad flash game at that point.
What oilo said. I'm not denying the food system could use a few tweaks, I'm not saying the game is perfect, however I do want it to stay within it's genre boundaries. Rougelikes are a fairly niche genre and there are bound to be complaints by people who don't understand how they play, but the devs made the game with that thought in mind, the app description/tutorial video specifically says you're not supposed to win, you're supposed to die. Death by hunger is included in that. There's always an element of luck in roguelike games which tends to be what annoys people, the fun comes from improving your skill as much as possible to narrow down the amount of luck needed, but it'll never disappear completely and that's why the game never gets old.
