How are you bad at the game if you don't waste a single point of food and still die of hunger? There appears to be no safety net at all to ensure enough food spawns for you to survive, so it's pure luck that you haven't died of hunger yet. Also is there any news from the devs on if the high scoreboards will be wiped after the exploits have been cleared up? Cause for a game that bases it's replayability on a high score system, this seems kinda vital.
Didn't they already admit the food spawning system needs some adjusting? I don't see why people are arguing about it when it's already been pointed out as an issue by the devs.
Challenge screen is empty Before the patch I completed the first 6 challenges. Since the patch the challenges list is now empty! I then doenloadethe game on my ipad and the challenge list is also empty. I this a common problem?
Because most, myself included, don't want to read 70 odd pages of a thread. But if it's true thanks for pointing it out Yep, somehow they've disappeared in the new update, I assume they should be back as soon as the next update is out.
Perhaps they can, would you like to suggest it to them? Your elitist attitude in this thread is tiresome. Can't understand why some of you have such hostile attitudes towards feedback and open suggestions. It is not directed at you, it is directed at the devs whom I'm sure can decide for themselves what is best for the game.
Sword of Fargoal is my favorite rougelike so far, there's no food, and there's also an easy mode that doesn't involve perma-death. It'll definitely tide you over till this game is fixed, if not longer.
I think it is just a matter of adjusting the gaps between the difficulties, add a zen mode like every other game is doing, or something of the like. I like this game far better than SoF (personal opinion) but I think there's still much in the difficulty department and bugs department to be tweaked. No need to be elitist, it is just a matter of not mixing the experience roguelike fans want to have and a more casual/new to genre type want to have as well, IMO there should be room for everyone. Take SoF's no perma death example.
Ah I know its rogue style but I'd love this so much more if you restarted the dungeon you were on instead of the whole game...or make a save game system.
I don't wanna go back to the elitism, but I really wouldn't be happy with this. If the option was there I'd probably give in and use it, I kinda like being forced into hardcore dungeon crawling. It makes the experience more frightening.
Why is everyone complaining about the game?... The food part is a challenge, get used to it. Rogue Touch also uses the food and that was one of the best Ipod Touch games ever. I'm really enjoying this game, haven't had a problem with finding food yet.
I don't think there's a problem with the food system at all. I haven't had a problem with it in any of the games I've played. I found that I can make it to the genie with just the roasted food you get at the beginning of the game. And then you get another piece of food there. I haven't made it past dungeon 3 though because I usually die or the game crashes at some point.
Because it has a lot of bugs, some exploitable. And even with those exploits it's still impossible to kill the boss. Speaking of bugs, I've noticed that the Crusaders "Weapon Focus" skill is still active when spells are used (I got the message "You are getting good with this dagger" after using "Searing Blade"). Not sure if anyones reported that one or not.
hmm.. not sure what just happened, it didn't seem like an error on my part. I had killed the Genie, and the little explosion animation started to roll, me standing near the @ sign. About 8 or 9 red and blue potions appeared to my right, then my Crusader just keeled over and died, even though I had full health. Something I did wrong here?
I love this game! Suggestions for the devs: 1. Food mechanic is fine. Don't change it. Regardless it will be a moot point when the shops open for business. 2. Don't add a d-pad. Don't cave on this one. The control scheme is FINE! Questions; 1. Will the leaderboards be reset? Please say yes. I hate to think of the people who may be exploiting certain things right now... 2. I know I am jumping way ahead, but when will money be implemented? After bug fixes that should be the first order of business, along with shops. Just asking for a rough estimate or even a PROBABLE order for planned additional content. Thanks for a wonderful game guys and thanks for all your time and involvement with the fanbase.
Food. I've read this whole thread (!) and I have one suggestion/ request with regard to the food issue: Let us eat corpses, but make it risky.
I'm going out on a limb with this, but I do believe the leaderboards will be reset. With the two current exploits going on (both +armor and energy) some people are able to get very high scores when they shouldn't be able to. I'm sad cause I actually set a pretty high score, but I'm willing to see it go if it means a more level playing field for everyone. Also the food issue is fine in my opinion. Nothing is wrong with it in its current state. I rarely play a game where I don't get any food. I'm sure if you think about it you'll notice that as well. Sure it sucks to only get a rotten food until level 5, but that's still more than enough food to make it down to the genie as long as you aren't sitting and grinding. The reason food is in a roguelike is to keep the player from sitting and grinding too much on a floor. We all remember those times where we don't get any food and are running around frantically trying to find some because they piss us off. We don't remember the 9 other games where we found some food but got killed by a bat/rat/bandit/etc. Not getting everything you need is how a roguelike works. In fact my best game was one where I was stuck with a buckler and my starting dagger (which I got up to +5) until Satan killed me. Would I have liked to find a sword that game? Yes. Did I? No.
And your attitude of "I speak on behalf of most of players against the food system" isn't? The food system is just fine. I have yet to die because of hunger, and if that happens at one point, I'm willing to accept it. You aren't supposed to win every game, and sometimes the odds are just too much against you.
