    Finally a sensible response.

We weren't / aren't, really. Someone asked, I took a couple seconds between compiles to respond, is all.

Said jokingly, but it's not far from the truth!

Any developer posting here is a sort of "micro celebrity", the other forum members are going to listen to and analyze everything that is said by the developer about his or her game. 100 Rogues is off to a shaky start, so people will naturally be even more alert and critical. Even for the best of intentions, words should be chosen with care.

Wes, hope you are making some headway with optimizations this weekend. Give me a shout if you find something in the code you'd like to discuss further. :)

Sounds like the flaw is the iPad to me. So now developers are having to adjust perfectly workable control schemes on their primary device just to satisfy the niche corner of Apple products?

I don't mind waiting longer for the next build if it means having it more thoroughly tested. I've run into some hiccups but 1.0.1 is fun and perfectly playable.

All this is played on a 3GS, if it matters.

    1) The animation seems very jerky, but only when you start and stop moving. Moving continuously in one direction and all the combat animations look very smooth, but it seems to have a problem when movement begins or ends. It's almost like the camera adjusts slightly ahead of the character in the direction they're moving then jerks back to center when movement stops.

    2) The current control scheme largely works fine for the crusader, but I think a virtual dpad is really required for the fairy. I've had numerous situations playing as the fairy where I end up taking a step when I'm trying to attack an enemy. You guys know just how crucial every action is in a game like this. These misreadings can easily end a run. This problem isn't as present for the crusader considering how his melee attacks work.

    3) I don't understand why enemy attacks take priority over my move command. Are you not supposed to be able to run away?

    4) I had a piece of crusader only armor drop while playing as the fairy. I don't know if that was an oversight or just adding to the randomness of the drops.

5)Balance issue: the crusader has regenerating health, a heal spell, and the potential for God to come and restore all his life. The fairy has nothing except the rebirth. I understand that they are supposed to play differently, but I think she should at least regenerate health.
EDIT: I didn't notice that Purify healed, and that the fairy regenerates really, really slowly.

Also, if anything I listed here is a bug I shouldn't be experiencing, I'll reinstall and edit my post if it fixes the problem.

A few pages back someone commented on the fairy being so much easier than the crusader, so combined with your post is sounds like the balance is pretty good. Does there have to be a balance anyway? They're not supposed to play identically.

I have to say the fairy is underpowered also. I got to Satan with the crusader but the fairy is hard to get past the first 5 levels with. To back up my point I would like to point out the scoreboard.

I was wondering, what skills do you get when playing as fairy/crusader?

I use fairy mostly, and 1st I go with teleport then max purify (I've never got the next point since I die before that, so that's all I put in it).

    Also...

Purify (the skill under teleport) heals over time, and it is rather useful since you can be healed while battling and not consuming turns (i.e. you can atk and heal in the same turn).

I think it is perfect as it is, you should be punished for bad placement/running away from battle, that also asures the fact that, even though you get hit once, you get away from the enemy, and not have it 1 tile away from you until you decide to fight it.

Looks like somebody isn't familiar with the tropes of grid-based combat =].

Exiting a threatened square in DnD, and most tactical based rpgs in general, incurs what's called an "attack of opportunity". It's supposed to represent the tactical advantage one would get if their opponent "retreats".

That's why you have to really look before you leap in 100 rogues. I know in this day in age people are used to just barreling into the fray, guns blazing, and worst case scenario they respawn like 50 yards from where they died. (if health regen didn't save them)

We thought it might be a good idea to have a little, you know, tension in the game? Call us crazy.

I bring up tetris a lot, but it's kind of like complaining "tetris is nice and all, but i don't understand why I can't see nine pieces ahead of time and rotate the block infinitely until i get it where I want it"... oh wait... that's what they have DONE to tetris nowadays, isn't it? =P

I think he was talking about the scoreboard and the fact that, before the update, we couldn't save our scores..

Hold on, I'm sure someone said the update broke challenge mode... but it's working fine for me. In fact I only started playing challenge mode after the update, so what's broken?

Ok. It happened again. This time I found a +2 Buckler on the first level and by constantly unequipping and equipping it, my Armor value rises every time. I can actually just drag it away from the shield slot and put it
back, and that's instant, permanent plus 4 points to my armor value.

Yeah.. challenge mode is not working for me too after the update, but now I can use the shields :D

I only hope that the problem with the Genie boss has ended with the update...
