The games that aren't registering have nothing to do with crashing (meaning one of them crashed, while the other didn't - neither registered) I just wanted to see if others had this problem, and if so might need to be addressed
Now that I've played the game enough to experience the bugs, here's my usual pattern: 1. Play 2. Crash 3. Cuss 4. Continue 5. Die 6. Cuss 7. No high score 8. Realize what an awesome game session it was anyway 9. Fantasize about the upcoming update 10. Play Repeat 5-10 times a day or until satisfied That's what I get for ignoring CommanderData's gaming tips posted a few threads earlier
Ah yes. That's because it was filmed from the iPhone Simulator, on my Macbook. It's got way more muscles than any of the iDevices, obviously. So, the animation stuff is just a matter of increasing our performance, which we're committed to doing, and with CommanderData's help, I believe we can do! Also someone just pointed this out to me today: Five Gameplay Elements Doom Invented that Nobody Else Stole The first mechanic, infighting, is in 100 Rogues. I find it pretty shocking that we're one of the ONLY games in like 17 years to actually use this (great) mechanic. Can anyone else think of another game that uses it? Edit: Ugh, I read the rest of the article and I know Doom so much better than that guy =] TELEFRAGGING ISN'T A GLITCH! And he failed to mention the ACTUAL glitch in the game which became a gameplay element - the BFG warmup sound being cancel-able by pressing "open" (usually Space) on a wall. That allowed you to fake someone out in a deathmatch game into thinking you're firing your BFG shot when you weren't. 5 points for anyone who knows what I'm talking about with the BFG fake-out!
After an intense playing session, i've got to say that this game in FUN! Sure, bugs are there (i.e. hi-score being deteled, sometimes is impossible to return to main menu after game over (the "Main Menu" button doesn't work) etc.), but I enjoyed wandering in the maps attacking foes and picking up objects, trying to do some serious score! I read some criticisms about the movement mechanism; i can only say i find it perfect as it is, imho. I agree about some little "confirmation click" sound when you equip or use items on the inventory, it may adds something. As everybody here, i'm waiting for the update to adjust and fix the game, but as i said before, even in this actual form, 100 Rogues it's fun and action! Congrats from Italy!
Hmm.... the closest thing I could think of is ES: Oblivion. When some Minotaur attacks an Imperial Scout/Ranger patrolling the highway
I'll do what I can from the sidelines with tips and suggestions, and if actual programming help or code review is required, well, that's an option that Wes and I entertained (if necessary). Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer The Kigny monsters intentionally attacked each other and other monsters if not engaged in a fight with you
Yeah, I thought that the Kigny was great the first time I saw it killing the other monsters... until I had to kill the lvl 3 version of it! Powder is another example, but I can't think of anything else outside of rogue-likes...
I was a bit wary with all the reports of bugs at first, but after seeing all the great stuff posted here, I took the plunge anyway, well, I would've eventually anyway after bugs were squished but meh And well, as has been mentioned before, this game just flat out rocks. The skills are a great idea here, and the fact that they often have multiple uses as well is really awesome. I noticed the weird laggy movement, but it didn't really bother me that much. After getting my crusader splatted by two assassins that snuck up on me (ouch those backstabs hurt) I decided to give the challenges a go. Great idea there, though the implementation is a bit lacking. Actually had to redo the second challenge about 10 times even when I was doing it properly, since the stab didn't instantly kill the skeletons. But overall they're nicely thought out, and a good way to get to know the skills and their uses. Currently stuck on challenge number 8 (or at least I think it's 8) with the 3 red rats, crusader with Whack of Glory. Wondering if it's even possible at the moment now though, redone it so many times by now, if anyone could shoot me a hint in a PM that'd be awesome. Anyway, enough of my rambling, time to go get some more of my rogues splatted
To be honest that article... sucks. I was expecting something interesting but they're just all false, except maybe the Chex one. They even give examples of why they're wrong in the very first element.
Ugh, that article was terrible. Everything on that list has been done a million times in other games. (Or at least a few other times) Did they seriously put "badass music" as something that hasn't been done before??? Pretty much every major action game has "badass" music.
To be fair, the article seems to be talking only about FPS, not games in general. So they're saying that FPS since Doom haven't had "badass sound tracks", meaning AC/DC and such. I don't know if that's true or not as I haven't played that many FPS. In fact... I've never played Doom. [ducks, runs for cover].
Many have trouble with that one. I can beat it every time I play it. And actually there may be more than one way to do it. I'll give you the first two moves: move down a space, and whack the lower rat downward. Then you need to get the rats in a formation so you can kill them all with an Energy Potion (remember, they can be thrown)! I agree. Apologies for even linking it. I will say that the sentiment of the article is largely legitimate though; Doom is still easily one of the best FPS games around.
I still have only beaten it twice, owed to rats deciding to move conveniently. Luckily I can just ramp my health up to 9001
Ah, thanks a lot, got that one now Honestly, hadn't thought of throwing the potion. Now to figure out how to get rid of that ghost in a convenient matter in challenge 10 and I'm done with the challenges
I'm just going to chime in and add my voice to the (thankfully, large) choir that is singing the praises of this game. Unlike many in this thread, I can't say I'm a big rogue fan but I'm loving this; even with the bugs. Anyone with even a passing interest in this may as well just get it now. It's still good fun and I'm sure the update will sort things out. Go on, you know you want to.
Suggestion for devs: Virtual DPad as a control option? I read that for various reasons (i.e. turn based), Fargoal's swipe controls and/or tap-to-auto-move would not be considered. I know in the past I very vocally supported the devs being anti-dpad. And yes, I do generally hate virtual dpads. But the current control method isn't ideal, and as much as it hurts to say it - a virtual dpad might be the way to go after all. Thanks.
