I keep coming back to it even though I crash all on the first floor and loose my data all the time. There is something realy fun about this game which I can't quite put my finger on. Looking foward to the update.
Yeah this game is awesome. I only got one problem and that's the crashing so you already know. Everything else people say I think are fine the way they are. I actually don't mind thr controls or the loot identification, or anything haha. This game is great. Just one thing, how is everyone able to play so many dungeon crawlers at once? I got SoF, RogueTouch and this, it's just a bit overwhelming...
Any idea when the patch would ordinarily get approved? I am ready to buy this as soon as this first set of bugs is eliminated. I may get grief for this question, but does Apple have a separate approval track when it involves bugs/patches that are causing frequent crashes? I seem to remember with Astro Ranch that an initial update to fix major bugs was approved in a matter of hours, as opposed to days.
I can't figure out challenge number 6. Could someone help? EDIT: More like every challenge past challenge 5...
Count me in! Rogue Touch is fantastic, and the help you've given to 100 Rogues shows you're a fantastic developer. ...Is there an estimated release date for Mineko yet? Anyways, more on topic, but still not entirely related to 100 Rogues, someone needs to explain to me why people keep comparing Sword of Fargoal to all roguelikes. It's an absolutely beautiful little game, but it's by no means the gold standard. Not only that, but it's hardly a roguelike. Just because it has an overhead point of view and takes place in a dungeon (with permadeath) does not make it one. It's missing most roguelike conventions including an inventory, equipment, turn-based combat, and several other things I don't feel like listing right now.
Spirit Hunter Mineko is a MUST BUY!!! Regardless of CD's help with 100 Rogues, Mineko looks awesome. But CD's helpfulness certainly wins him many bonus points.
Ok I really want to like this game I really do :/ But because of the characters lagging when they move I hate it
That's nothing... in Sword of Fargoal, the guy's legs DON'T EVEN MOVE. WTF?! Honestly I haven't really noticed any lag in 100 Rogues? But I've been playing it on the iPad, haven't even had a single problem with it there.
Yes! We're going to add a "fire" button somewhere on the screen whenever you have a ranged weapon equipped. No, all loot generates equally between classes. I tried to make sure that the world of 100 Rogues is a very rigid and consistent one, it doesn't do anything hacky like that. The problem with zooming on pixel art is you have two options: Have it look all weird and screwy at certain zoom levels, and blur the crap out of it. Neither of these are desirable. Also why would you even WANT to zoom in? OR out?
It's mostly imperceptible unless you're something of a perfectionist/OCD-type. But if you notice, when moving, the character sprite tends to jump out of the tile a little. I think it's most noticeable when moving toward a wall; you'll see the sprite jump towards the wall a little and then jump back to where it should be. It's not horrible, but it's an incessant annoyance.
For the moment I'm just considering the crashes part of the challenge. It's like this invisible monster that attacks you by showing you how much mail you have and what time it is.
I agree, there's a ton of lag with movement. In addition to what Postmanmanman mentioned, though, there's also the issue of the animations cutting off halfway through.
LOL!! I was thinking of it as the finger of God squishing me instead of the enemy - squishing me right out of the game! Loving the game! Hang in there Devs!
So could we released a strategy guide and pack in a detailed summary of the game's texture memory usage, and you'd call it a feature?
Only if you include the most vicious monster in the bestiary. Invisible Crash Monster - Reveals its true form after attack, oddly enough an exact replica of the screen you keep your 100 Rogues icon on. Curiously attracted to shields.
Thanks for the continued support and goodwill guys! Obviously for the sake of this thread we should take most of the Spirit Hunter Mineko discussion over to my upcoming thread here. I know I've been lax in updating, and have to post/answer a question posed via PM by CrazyPossum too. Stop on by that thread and post, and I'll be sure to answer everyone as quickly as I can Back on 100 Rogues: I suspect the smoothness you see is completely due to the 1GHz processor in the iPad. Since I noted the 3GS is nearly pegged out at times by 100 Rogues at 600 MHz, only the iPad would have enough horsepower to deliver the goods. That should change soon. If they need greater amounts of help I'll roll up my sleeves and get dirty
