I really feel dumb, but what/where is the settings app, and what/where is the main screen? I'm able to click on the "menu" button but there is neither a "settings" nor "tileset" option within...

EDIT: Never mind, answered above. Thanks guys!

Not an iPhone title, but it you have a Nintendo DS, Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is fantastic. I love how death is an integral part of the gameplay and serves to advance the various storylines. Even in failure, there is progress.

Then clearly this is not a game for you. Not complaining, we all don't like everything and enjoy everything equally, that's the great thing about the appstore, so many games there might be something you might find worth 5 bucks (or maybe more) to you. For us, this is it tho :D.

Well, my daughter has one, and sometimes leaves it...lying around. :p The freaky thing is, I actually saw that game in a bargain bin just last week for $15 and wondered if it was worth getting. Now I feel like I should have. I guess I can stop by the store again and see if it's still there.

I appreciate the efforts and love the game. But it seems like 90% of us are crashing multiple times on level 1. I'm kinda baffled that "extensive testing" didn't find these. Most of us found the issue within 30 seconds of play.

I'm on a 3g touch and chain crashing every 10 moves or so (yes I have a shield in my inventory.

This game is just as I expected it to be -- a rock solid gaming experience! It's the kind of game that comes out once every blue moon, so despite initial setbacks, I'm glad to have this in my collection.

Congratulations to the developers for bringing in a a future classic! You guys have my full support :)

Btw, for some reason I haven't experienced any game crashes yet since playing the game, but I haven't tried equipping shields yet, as advised by people.

After all messages I read about the game crashing every 10 moves, you're right this game is not for me :D

More seriously, you paid 3.99 € (in my country) for a game that has not been tested and I paid the same kind of game: sword of fargoal 0.79 € and I don't see the difference between them.

And if you would have understood iphone business, you would know that the cheaper is the game and the more you sell. A 3.99 € this game won't be sold so much. There are a lot of hard gamers like me that buy a LOT of 0.79€ games.

Ok (I'm on my iPod forgive me for gramatical errors) Should I get this game, I love Sword of Fargoal, but is this game worth 4.99? I ask this because money is tight ATM, and only have around 9$ or so (Waiting for Super Quick Hook) but from what I've heard the game is full of bugs, so should I buy it now, (again I LOVE Fargoal) should I skip it period, or should I wait for all the bugs to be ironed out?

If you love Fargoal then don´t hesitate, go and buy 100 Rogues! Seriously I expect this game to be stable very soon and with all the upcoming patches that add more character classes and monsters and worlds and so on, you just can´t go wrong!

Also, as you can see, the devs are VERY active in this forum, so that is always a very good sign.

And I can´t get it that people wouldn´t want to pay 3,99 € for this game, considering that a game of this magnitude would normally cost tenfold.

As lead artist of the game, I can tell you this: For five bucks, you'll get more replay value and originality from us than most $80 current-gen console games.

If you want to wait until our bug patch (which has been submitted, and should be available VERY soon,) by all means, do so. If you find that, after reading more reviews and getting more feedback that this isn't the game for you, that's fine too!

On a personal note, I just want to say that there was a time in games when the industry was the right combination of being young and having a good amount of capital. (IMO the early-mid nineties) During this time, the industry was more free from "art by committee" than it is now, and true feats of artistic genius were spawned, in musical, visual, and design achievements. I'm not saying my art or music is "all that hot" but I can say that I poured more than a year of my best artistic efforts into something we all truly love and care about. I don't know if I'll ever have the opportunity to "call the shots" artistically again, and it has truly been a gift. The reason I bring this up is, whoever buys this game is buying the heart and soul of a few guys who love games, not just for the sake of playing them, but as works of art and important parts of culture.

*wipes tear* there I go... gettin' all sentimental...

Thank you all for taking this journey with us. You won't be disappointed [even if you are a little bit right now]

It's one of the Chunsoft games previously mentioned in the thread. I find Shiren very approachable for a roguelike. Yes, you'll probably die a lot, but there are ways to store equipment so it persists across deaths. There are also objectives that, once accomplished, make permanent changes to the game, so there are ways to make progress that serve as steps towards the ultimate goal. And once you do "beat the game" you realize that you've only scratched perhaps 10% of what the game really has to offer (for me that was enough, I only dabbled with all of the other content, but there are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay there). Definitely go back and find it, just don't blame me when you are suddenly a 2 DS household (then again, you might want to wait for the new one with the 3D displays).

Yes yes, roguelikes tend to be for people with patience, if you can't wait for the bug fixing update (already submitted) definitely not for you.

Also, I could write an essay on iphone market and how it works, supply, demand, etc etc (economics major) but let's put it simple. What you say is true, cheaper, more people buy. But that doesnt mean bigger income for the devs, if you don't believe me check out top grossing apps. CR is #6 and if you analyze them all, not counting freemium as I'd have to go in the IAP, and cbf.. 21 of the apps (not all games mind you) are .99. Meaning 79% are not. Meaning even though .99 games sell more, they don't give more income to the devs. Let's not start with statistics really, as that'd be annoying.

tl;dr the price is good, the game is worth it, it'll sell, probably not in the sales volume as if it were .99, but it'll generate more income staying at this price.

Yes wipe your tear because I won't buy that game until a price drop.

If the answer is :"then you will never buy this game", then it's fine no problem there are many other good games around.

Here's what I'm confused by. If what CommanderData says is true and the problem is poor memory optimization, then why didn't this problem surface during the beta? The game was played even on old-school devices and didn't experience nearly the amount of crashes we're seeing now. So why this build?

please stop comparing this game and other roguelike games with sword of fargoal. it's amazing what developers of sword of fargoal did, and how they update their game. U can seldom see such attitude from iphone developers. But their game is something different, more adventure!
and coming back to 100 roques, more deeper dungeons - i assume it's easy to do, because they are random generated anyway, and optimization of the power drain should be at the highest priority! Increasing the speed of movement (as option) can be nice too.

I think today will be my "buying day" for 100 Rogues!
I played and enjoyed Fargoal very much, and i want something new to stay on the genre.
I read all the comments and i'm always pleased when the developers take part in a forum discussion, it's a clear sign of attention and reliability to and for the customer. The game is very interesting and i'm sure as many others here that it's going to march for a long time.
Sincerely, a fan and gamer from Italy

Anyone know how to kill the first boss?! He took a few hits and now the game no longer lets me hit him at all. Do I need to do something to weaken him - or is this a bug?

    Thanks,

    Jamie.
