** UPDATE ** Wes just sent in a new version to Apple which should fix most of the crashing. CommanderData - thank you SO much for your wonderful comments. I'm personally just a designer/artist/musician (I have got to learn to code one of these days), but I know Wes is really interested in tapping your brain. This is planned for ASAP! Huge map improvements are on the way, along with the map overlay. And for those of you standing up for us, we thank you, and don't worry, we aren't going to stop working hard at making 100 Rogues be the *BEST* iPhone game ever. We're doing it for you guys, but we're also doing it for ourselves, because it's just what we love to do. -Keith
I am not used to post here in TA, but I had to do it for his game. This game is AWESOME, but I am having the same problems with crashes. Reapiring this, it shall be the best game on my iDevices. I just want to add one thing that was not mentioned yet: I woul really LOVE to have an universal 100 Rogues. I am already plying it on iPad with Double Pixel and is already great. Do you plan to work on an update to make it an universal app? Congrats and I am really hoping to see the fixes soon.
Actually that was mentioned already, and the developers said they might, but it's not on the top of their to-do-list. They really want to focus on adding more content.
Like Maythius said, we're much more interested in Blake's time going towards new monsters, worlds, player classes, etc., than remaking the art for right now, and I hope you all agree. However, an iPad version sounds like a great idea to me, so maybe if we can justify hiring some more artists to handle the upscaling of our current art we may go that route.
Bugs? Sure. Bought it anyway I've been following the development of this game since it was featured here on Arcade. Just wanted to tell the developer, (something really awesome that we can do here...), that I bought the game because I know you'll fix it up soon and I want to support this great idea you've put together. I got a hankering for Rogue-likes lately and suddenly this came up. Just what the doctor ordered. Looking forward to fixes, new content and eventual iPad support.
I've been following the game for a while and it was an inta buy. I love the game! I just really hope you fixed the high score saves bug in the update, its far more of a problem than the crashes.
Not to let the love take over the thread, but the man should be promoted. CaptainData has a nice ring to it.
I really like the challenge mode! Totally reminiscent of chess puzzles. I've got all of them done except 7 and 9 - anyone get those yet? And if you could give some general tips, avoiding an outright solution that'd be preferred. Hmmm some people may not want even that. There's a way to mask text so it needs to be highlighted, right? Oh - devs, I'd love to see a "retry" button after a failed challenge, instead of needing to reselect from the main menu. Looking forward to the patch!
Hey hey! Someone talkin' about gameplay! I'm glad you like challenge mode. A couple of the challenges need to be tweaked actually because they have several solutions that make them far too easy and don't teach the lesson. Also, some challenges have resurrecting skeletons which break the challenge. Need to fix that! Anyone else got some feedback on the game's design? As lead designer, I'm most interested to hear what people think of that.
You have made a game that finally combines Chunsoft-style roguelike qualities with Western-style roguelike qualities, and a dash of Diablo. It's pretty much my dream come true.
Yeah sorry Keith, but the reason no one's discussing the design is because it's awesome and we're totally happy with it
I'm sure it's been announced here somewhere, but the patch has been sent to apple as of this afternoon. We need only wait on them now. Thanks everyone for your support and patience! Blake Reynolds 100 Rogues -Lead artist-
Glad to hear it! But, the patch, is it more than just a bandaid? Based on CommanderData's post earlier today, it seems like there are much larger underlying issues that take more than half a day to solve. Don't get me wrong, I'm anxious to try this game out, but I'm also curious.
I think one of the things I love the most about this game is that when an enemy hits enother one by accident, they just fight till death and I get to just sit and watch . Any tips for defeating the rocket robots other than letts them hit themselves with their rockets?
This game has not crashed yet on my iPad. I am not equipping any shields, though. However, I HATE the food mechanic. I have already died twice because I was unlucky enough for food not to drop when I needed it. Do us all a favor, and just kill us right when the game starts if the random dungeon generator doesn't place enough food. It would save a lot of time and frustration.
