Fair enough. I'm having a blast with the Roguebot and love the concept, at least, of these new modes. Question, is there a way to do a force redraw of the inventory in the game? I had a ring that somehow, even though I had long ago disposed of it, had its image burned into the inventory half way between to cells (I stupidly tried to equip it onto my roguebot and I don't think the game appreciated that). Leaving and coming back to the inventory made no difference and it seemed there was no way to get rid of this image of a long gone item in my game.
I can think of 2 ways that might have happened. Both terrify me. I'll be checking that out today. Thanks for the context leading up to it, that should help considerably.
They ought to be under the difficulty selection buttons. The game silently polls Apple's servers while on that screen and, if it can find them quick enough, displays them. Just a hair more overt a solution would be good. Just a hair.
Same here... bought the Skelly day one and just got the robot too. i am a little reluctant to buy the game modes though.
I didn't even know there were new game modes until I read about them here, as I had to leave it on the difficulty menu for about 1 min before they even showed up. I'll not be buying them as that took far to long for them to appear can't be waiting that long between games sorry.
I purchased a SkillBook(point) for 4000, seemed like a good deal but it wasn't to be found in the main game. Are some of the items in the ComboShop for use in the main game and some for the Combo game? If so it doesn't seem very clear based on the info in-game unless I'm missing something painfully obvious (wouldn't be the 1st time ).
OK, i'll see if I can make that more clear in the next revision. Only the 3 items that are prefaced with 'Combo' will become available in the main game. Skill Books, Super Health+/Energy+/Strength+, which cost ~4000 each, are just for use in the current Combo Mode Game. Since you aren't granted experience points for killing monsters, you can only get skill / stat upgrades by spending your points. Ideally, the only way to get the permanent items in the main game is to maintain a high combo without needing to spend lots of points on skill / stat upgrades. More balancing probably needs done, to that end. @oooooomonkey: Should you change your mind, know that you won't have to wait that long ever again after purchasing. The delay is just polling the App Store for available IAPs. Once the receipt for the purchases is retrieved by the game and the modes are unlocked, the menu items for modes that have been purchased become immediately available.
Makes sense. Maybe just a bloody great line after the last main game item in the menu with Main Game and This Game headers as appropriate.
I might be in the minority but I think you guys are doing IAPs RIGHT! Continued development takes time and money and the devs need to make a living. As long as we're never expected to pay for fixes, I like being able to get these whole new classes and and modes for minimalistic prices. Please, DinoFarm, NEVER go down the dark route of expendable IAPs which seem the craze these days!
Expendable IAPs would kill the concept of what makes a roguelike. I'll buy these IAP sure. I would rather give another $2 to support the continued development and growth of a game that I love playing than pay $2 for another game, whether by Dinofarm or not. So far, I've spent $7 on 100 Rogues with $2 more on the way. It has gone from $5 with 1 mode and 2 characters to $9 with 3 and 5, plus numerous other additions/tweaks. Is it worth it? To me, yes.
Would someone be ever so kind as to explain this game to me, or roguelikes in general. I have this and have played very little of it but with all the releases for roguelike recently I figured I would try this again. On lunch I was running around and survived to get to the boss of the bandit hole I guess it was. I really don't know if I should be fighting everything in every room I come across or running as much as possible? How long is this game? In levels not hours as I'm sure I could wander every map for every block available.
IAP for new modes sounds fine to me, expendables would be terrible. If we're spending more money we should be getting new content, not just making existing content temporarily more enjoyable.
That is the power of a good roguelike, IMHO, is there is no clear answer since the randomization could mean in one game you have an ample food supply while in the next food is kind of tight. While no master of 100 Rogues, just a big fan of roguelikes in general, only play and many stupid deaths on your own can answer a lot of these fundamental pacing questions. Once you've played through a few failed attempts you will just know intrinsically: "Okay, my health is full and I have food to spare, let's investigate every corner of this level." or, "My health is okay but that room over there is filled with robots and my food is pretty low, I should probably just dive down the stairs and hope I find some food ASAP."
Monsters will continually respawn, so you can't actually kill everything on a level. It's really up to you how you play, but generally it's a good idea to explore an entire level before moving on, so you can find all the chests and any other possible extras (like the shop or the locker). Plus, the more you fight, the more experience you get, which will make you more powerful, and you'll need more power (ie. higher stats, better skills, more health and mana) the deeper you get. I think there are 12 levels? Four on the bandit hole level, four on the dungeon level, and four on the hell level (if I'm wrong, someone correct me).
Yessum. 3 worlds x (3 standard levels per world + 1 boss level per world) = 12 Combo and Endless Modes skip the boss fights, however, so Combo levels = 3 worlds x 3 levels per world = 9 Endless mode = Infinity billion worlds x 3 levels per world = 3 infinity billion worlds
Probably about an hour to get through each iteration of the 9 levels, maybe a bit longer each time since you'll be stopping to think and plan more often. I'll go with five hours to finish endless mode before every single person is guaranteed to have been killed off. I will think up a reward for the first person that makes it to the fifth iteration of the game. It will most likely involve a pie and a haiku.
Oh thanks I didn't know they would stay there after I bought them I thought I'd have to wait each time. One question though is it 59p per game mode or is that for both modes? I have no prob with the IAP as I know it takes time and considerable effort to keep making these new modes/characters.
