Attempting to start a game while it is "searching for monster classes" results in it getting stuck. Otherwise good to see the game playable again. Time to try out rogue-bot.
Could I get a list of the features/improvements from 2.7? I didn't get to see them when the update was released and the update description on iTunes doesn't say.
New stuff in 2.8: Bug fixes (basically just memory leak fixes, nothing specific you'd notice, but more stable a game) Combo / Endless Modes available as $1 IAPs New Scroll Menus for Achievements / High Scores / Score Tally (in preparation for OSX, which doesn't have iOS' niceties) Game is available here. Heart in my throat I'm testing the live build. Here's hoping!
Downloading the update now, but it's taking forever. It should take a couple of minutes to download but it's been 20 minutes so far Anyone else having a slow download?
Download size increased a hair with the new player classes in 2.6, and the missing files that caused the crashes in 2.7 were included in 2.8, but that's maybe an extra megabyte, tops. Download was still lickity-split on my end.
The download just finished a little while ago, it took 29 minutes. Just tested my speed and it's fine, but downloading anything via iTunes downloads at 64 - 128 KB/s. Weird. Now to go try the update, I've been jonsen for some 100 Rogues for over a week
And here I though the only IAPs were gonna be the characters and that the gameplay-oriented part of the game was gonna remain as free updates.
That's a bit disappointing. I know it's only $1, but I bought the game for $5, which is already fairly expensive by iOS standards. Plus, I bought the Skellyman class, which brought the price up to premium. I was hoping for stuff like this to be free, if I'm being honest.
Same, which is what i was going with my above point. I think they kinda forgot about their *coughfaithfulearlyadoptersbuggygameowners* that got promised heaven and earth and got stabbed by skelly and now again by this, being that the argument with skelly was that it was not gameplay related ergo it was not included in the free upgrades. Tell me now what is more gameplay related than *game* modes?
looks like theres a high developed system. but i don't like the picture cause i think it is to small and i can not read it comfortably and the picture can not display very good.
Yes, yes they should. To be perfectly honest, the development schedule for the modes got FU'dBAR when 2.7 went live, and the priorities shifted to getting the fix out the door as soon as possible. Rolling back wasn't an option, because it wasn't clear from 2.7 what the problem was. So, we got Combo and Endless stable, tested the living daylights out of it, and submitted without adding anything else (like high score boards) that could delay longer than needed or risk the real leaderboards getting infected with other-balanced Combo / Endless scores. You can expect to see high score boards for the modes handled properly soon.
Just downloaded the update(sweet)! It's finally playable and the robot has some pretty nice skills. I just noticed there are other modes that are DLC??? I have supported this game since day one and I'm not one to complain about IAP because I understand we all gotta eat so I purchased the modes, but I feel a little shafted having to purchase different modes. I support purchasing new characters to the max with no problem because(so far other than skellys skill trees that could be rearranged to be better related) they are very well executed, fun, and bring different elements to the game which keeps me coming back. Those I feel are more than justified and I can't wait for more...please keep them coming. Keep charging us for characters if you must, but (IMO) don't do us like this with different modes because I feel it's along the lines of losing integrity... /rant over With that said, I haven't had any issues thus far with this update but I do have a question(s). What new items unlock from combo mode to main? I haven't dove into them yet because I'm still playing robot sessions and loving it. Got a screen teaser of the upcoming level?
1st go on combo mode: crash out of game on first attack 2nd go on combo mode: crash out of game on 1st weapon swap Let's see if this list gets any longer iP4, non JB, just rebooted blah blah blah... Edit: 3rd go, played through to (a stupid) death no worries. One question though; should items that are unlocked in the combo shop be in the main game's starting inventory or does it just mean that you'll come across them in the main game?
I like Rogue-bot, I'm happy to pay a buck for extra monster classes (I love games that let you play as enemies and such). Funnily enough, I died in a rocket-duel with another robot. I lost a lot of health after missing a melee attack five times in a row, its much better to rely on his powerful ranged skills. I don't know about charging for extra modes, I agree with GodSon on that point. I'm happy to pay for extra classes (but not EVERY new class, do try to add some free ones) but I wouldn't for extra modes. I'd like to eventually see the dinoman bruiser either for free or included with the skellyman purchase. I would've thought the 4 main promised classes come free, while the extra and fun monster classes being paid. So can we get some extra info about just what these extra modes are? Are they like the challenges?
Combo mode sees you playing the normal game but also accumulating points and a combo multiplier as you make kills. Between every level there's a ComboShop with various valuable goodies to buy with said points. See above for one aspect I'm not certain on. I didn't get endless but it sounds like if you beat the game it cycles round and gets harder. Definately not the mode for me!
Combo Mode Rewards: Should you rack up enough points, you can choose to purchase a permanently unlocked Increase Health, Energy or Strength scroll to be added to your starting inventory in the normal game modes. At the moment, these items are extremely difficulty to achieve, and the points you receive for kills only begin to approach the cost of the items near endgame. This will be getting rebalanced in the next update. Also, there isn't a shop immediately after beating the game to provide one final chance at purchasing the items. This will change shortly, as well.
I also agree on not liking paying for game modes .... and in any cases i do not see them anywhere in the updated app anyhow!!!
