I, too, am giving up on this game now. I'm not enjoying it at all, not knowing when it's going to crash next and lose all my progress. This is a fantastic game and when the problems are resolved it'll be something I will play for hours and hours... but in its current state it should not be sold on the App Store; it's simply not production-ready. Jamie. P.S. For the record I'm using a freshly rebooted, non-Jailbroken iPhone 16gb 3GS.
I'm actually against this, I think the game speed is spot on. Wait till you get to the Dungeon levels and you have a room full of respawning skellies and a pesky knight to contend with. You do NOT want to be rushing headlong into any of that, even the slightest unplanned move will see you dead. It's different to fargoal, in that it pits you against multiple bad guys at the same time all the time. This reminds me of another comment earlier on where someone mentioned they were getting stuttering when moving. If you try to move too quickly, the game animations begin to cancel each other out, making it look like stutter. It seems designed that one move should complete the animation before continuing however, and this is more to do with gameplay than any animation bugs. It's intended to be a slower, more strategic game with more action-oriented, interesting options for combat. You simply can't get by anywhere past the 2nd floor by running headlong into things.
i agree compleatly. ive played the game for 5 minutes and its crashed three times. when i log back into the game im outside of walkable boundries and ALWAYS have to start a new game because i cant move.. im stuck in the wall. again. thats fine as long as its fixed soon. but dont try and say we didnt encounter any bugs. thats horsestuff and you know it.
Agreed. I know people love Sword of Fargoal. I love it too. That doesn't mean this game has to be the same as that game. That's the beauty of roguelikes--you have to learn how to play and survive on the game's terms. Although, again, I do wish that it was easier to tap for that faerie's ranged attack correctly... And for those who think the devs purposely submitted something with gamebreaking bugs, sorry but that's just not very bright. But since you're angry that your game keeps crashing, I suppose you will just continue flinging ridiculous accusations.
No, i dont like sword of fargoal actually, mostly because it's not roguelike. well, at least there could be an option to change the movement speed, i think it's easy to implement
List of bugs ive found. OK im going to just make a list of bugs ive experienced and you can add to it or whatever. Im on an Ipad and iphone 3gs. Volume bug number 1. when i try to play music in the background then go into the game, and mute the game music. crashes about 30% of the time. Volume bug number 2, sometimes when im tweaking the game noises the game shuts off. ive only had this happen once. im not sure but i think there was a stat point that never got put in. i could be wrong because the game crashed before i could check. it happened Immediately after i leveled up in combat and was attacked. Arrow bug: already documented. Shield equip bug. already documented. 5 times ive re-started the game. been moving twords a chest. then the game shuts off for no reason. i go back into the game and im stuck in a wall.. some kind of Loot bug, a guy drops a dagger or something. i click several times on the corpse area and walk over it. game crashes. open a treasure chest and any random loot. game crashes. this crash is COMPLETELY random so i cant document a percentage. keep in mind ive only played the game for about 45 minutes so all these bugs happened within that time frame. thats all ive got for now. i give up on this until the game patches.
Glaad this is out.... i'm really enjoing the game... Had some crash issues after install but then rebooted the idevice and eerything went fine. Really love the game congratz to the devs the waiting wos really worth it Hope it gets updated a lot
The dev actually stated in the review on this site that the final build was rushed out. The last build we had in beta was more playable by leaps and bounds, but it was missing a few features and enemies.
I'd never pay full price for a game that has this many problems on release. The developers don't deserve it. If the game ever goes on sale, I may check it out, but it's an insult to us customers to release something so obviously flawed.
Then your greediness will spell the end of you! These guys spent 18 months of their lives working on this, it went through alpha testing and beta testing, which cost them money to do. It's clear this game isn't a mere get-rich-quick scheme. Accidents happen, and to deny someone payment for their work even after it's been fixed is pretty pathetic. They've apologized numerous times already, they're keeping in contact with us and they've promised us plenty of fixes and future updates which presumably includes content, this thread is a prime example of the developer-consumer relationship these forums are (kinda) famous for and you come across as nothing more than ungrateful.
I would agree with you IF and that is a big IF, the devs were silent about it and didn't participate in the discussion. The entire team is here from what I gather and all of them are trying to do their part in the process of fixing the game. They have been apologetic and are just as disappointed as you. Your statement shows no respect for the developer at all, developers in general. It is attitudes such as yours that will shy devs away from participating in these forums. I can understand your desire to wait, but to blatantly say you will wait for a sale then you can't care too much for the game anyway. I am actually having fun with the game in its current state even. The bugs provide just another hurdle - not only am I trying to play before the enemies get me, I need to get as far as I can before the bugs get me!
Glad i held off buying till i got some feedback. Doesnt mean i wont be getting it tho. Will just wait till it's fixed and catch up on all the other games taking space on my crowded ipod.
This is my approach as well. As soon as the first patch is released that fixes most of the reported bugs, I will be among the first ones to download it at its full price.
