Hell is a third world appended after the Dungeon levels. Getting to it is a matter of surviving long enough to see it.
Wtf is "player class error"? It comes up when I try to buy the new class. Edit: ok, bonkers, it's still in review then.
I'm only going to say this: if they wanted to charge for the new hell level that would have been fine. It was new and (most importantly) hadn't been promised at launch. The last two characters were promised at launch without so much as a hint they would cost more. Right now the game is fairly polished, but I'd say that was only with the most recent update. Everyone who has bought the game prior to the 2.0 had to deal with a game plagued with problems. Anyone who bought the game around launch time bought half of what they expected to get (with tons of bugs and the promise of updates) in order to support the developers. It feels like bait and switch. It isn't the price that troubles me, it is the tacit.
When it's all said and done, it's 99 friggin' cents. Could this have been handled better? Yeah, probably. But this is these guy's FIRST game. Not only that, but every time they have to handle something it's for the FIRST time. Mistakes are bound to happen, but ya gotta look at the big picture. This is a great game and it just keeps getting better. They are going to learn their lesson from this, and communicate intentions better. Get over it, and keep enjoying a game that you are all obviously pretty passionate about. I know I will.
A lot of people's FIRST games were free, because they were learning as they go along. My photographer friend is just getting decent at his craft, and does gigs for free, because he's still learning. I'm not criticizing the devs here, merely countering your silly argument. Just because it's a first for them doesn't automatically allow them excuses. A payment contract with implicit functionality was entered into every time someone buys this app. There's no clause for it being their first game. Just sayin...
I wholeheartedly agree that this is one of the best ways to increase revenue to match the amount of work they have put into it. Am I going to buy the IAP when Apple clears it? Of course! Despite my irritation, I do want to support Dinofarm & 100 Rogues. But is this the first example of poorly handled communications in regards to this project? Ok, just the second really. I want to be able to agree with JGeldhof's optimism that mistakes will be learnt from. Here's to hopin
I don't want to comment on others but I just want to know that I'm loving the new update. As for the new IAP character, for me - I am going to purchase it to show the support and it's optional anyway.. so well, nvm. This game been eating up my hours (at home and work) so please continue to update. Haven't started a new game yet 'cos still on Hell level when the update released but I hope the Genie level bug have been fixed (i.e. defeat Genie.. walk back to shop and the movement's buggy). Keep up the good work!
Wow. Killed Satan for the first time and I'm having the game since release. I was lvl 11 with the fairie, made 270k points. It was great fun and a personal triumph. Let's hope I can pay for the new class soon.
Ok so I've been waking ages for the awesome new free updates, purchasing a buggy day 1 version trusting the promise of no sales free content.and now they do this? Holy freak I'm pissed...
if you are in the area of bad reception and there is network signal but actually no internet connection than when u start 100 rogues - the game does not want to go to the menu screen because it can not connect to the GC. WesPaugh could you please comment on performance of last updates, i already posted it several times. the game was very smooth but now it's jerky and too many frameskips. thanks.
I can't purchase the new class... Ive been trying for two days now. I'm about to give up and forget about this game.
The movement has been always jerky to some degree on my device (iPhone 4). So for me, this is not a problem that appeared with the last update but has always been present. As stated like 10 times in the last two days in this thread, the IAP (the new class) is not approved by Apple yet. Before Apple is giving the ok, noone can buy it.
It wasn't as obvious in-game as the character classes (with their giant neon question marks), but on forums / blogs / etc., we had been promising at least one new world since before launch. The thing with charging for an endgame world is that it's not something everyone sees, or ever would. It would be like how I bought Wrath of the Lich King a year and a half ago and still do not have a level 55 character. I paid $40 to be able to buy Cataclysm for another $40. We did not want to provide that level of ripoff to players. @eev A patch got submitted to Apple yesterday. Map / tile generation loading time has been reduced nearly out of existence. In-game framerate has been stabilized at 30 FPS across all devices. It's *the* performance patch everyone's been waiting for since launch. Sorry it took me 7 months to figure out what was needed and how to do it. After this, there may still be a slight stutter between turns after running without stopping for long enough, and the minimap still impacts framerate more negatively than it should, but the game will run like butter when 2.3 is out. And this is why I feel 100 Rogues doesn't fit into the 'first try' category completely. Most first tries that are sold for $0.99 is because the developer is resigned to the game being second-rate and staying that way, so they're dumped onto the App Store and left to rot. Now, I've made more than my fair share of mistakes compared to the other development disciplines; I never thought I could work at *anything* for nearly two years and still be finding new and exciting ways to screw up. But we firmly believe that this game will still be relevant long after I've outgrown this newbishness.
Not sure if this has been noted and I've only played a few mins with the update; but twice I've noticed a small, light blue square with a Z in it. Have I missed a new thing or may it be a glitch of some sort?
Say hello to the sleep debuff! Not uncommon in roguelikes, all monsters that initially populate a level now have a small chance to be fast asleep when you first see them, allowing you a free shot at them before they wake up.
Ah! Ok, cool. I'm fairly sure the 2nd one was not on, or indeed near, an enemy however. I'll let you know if it crops up again. May have not cropped up in the first place, wasn't paying a lot of attention at the time.
Ah ha; it's because the icon is visible outside of the vision circle and the enemy isn't. I must have not moved towards it straight away and then lost track. In other news, just entered hole 2 and everything bar doors and badguys was plain black. Haven't had a game-stopper for ages but they always seem to be the ones where I get plenty of good loot! Ah well. Still looking forward to Skelly! Edit: killed the task, reloaded and the continue is all good.
