Shout out to the dev. Love the concept and the style, and I'm intrigued by all the different options (3D!), especially being able to watch replays. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this title (once it's released). Congrats, and good luck with the game! I'm looking forward to playing it (although it brings a tear to my eye remembering the simple days, when 'mobile' required 4AA batteries and a green-white screen).
Apple's only official public response so far has been to say that they don't agree with Lodsys's claims. While that's a step in the right direction it is in no way suggesting that they would help out with any legal costs of affected developers. These kinds of legal battles are extremely costly to say the least, most small developers would not be able to survive, which it could be argued is why Lodsys is targeting them specifically. I noticed today that Angry Birds still has IAP... Thanks! Haha - that green screen, hard to believe there was a time when having a backlit screen was the stuff of fantasy. This still gives me nightmares:
Hmmm, that sucks. You would think apple would want protect their devs much quicker. Good publicity, could attract more devs. I don't know too much about that type of stuff, but I know it would be impossible for the smaller guys to stand a chance in a legal battle. Better off you just avoid that mess till it blows over.
God, I remember that Lightboy thing! Damn. Thanks for the memory and can't wait to play this game! As for IAP, I hope this isn't still a big issue. We have it in our game we're developing through OFX and I really don't want the headache of that smelly patent troll giving us crap about it... :\ I'm hoping SuperSteve will protect us from the t3h gient tr0ll!
Who knows what's occurring behind the scenes? The problem with anything like this is the people involved generally can't speak about it. Something is certain to happen eventually, in the meantime though I'm personally not taking the risk. Let's hope it gets resolved sooner rather than later. It was a such monstrosity, you either couldn't see the screen because it was too dark or you couldn't see parts of the screen because the stupid light reflected off the glass. Good times! I'd definitely be very wary of IAP right now until there is a firm legal answer - which at this point is looking like a court case.
Yeah, I thought I was pro so I broke my advance trying to install the afterburner http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afterburner_(modification_kit) Imagine an iPhone with no backlight! Lol Sidenote: looking forward to playing 1bit ninja It does look to be a great game. Hopefully it's out soon.
Oh come on grow up. Ridiculous thing to put, how old are you, 7? Edit - Just saw his youtube videos and his 'likes'... Jonas Brothes,Hannah Montana,Disney Stars,Nick Stars ?!?!?! Seriously ?!
I dunno... judging by the videos on his Youtube channel, I'd guess maybe 12 or 13. @syntheticvoid Sorry, I sort of continued this nonsense, my bad.
If only I had a facepalm image. But yeah, looks like Super Mario Land if Nintendo remade it for 3DS, not just rereleased it. Excited, especially with such a low price.
Will the recorded play have an upload to YouTube feature? Or sites like Twitter? Will there be levels that can only be played in 3D? Good luck with your game.
Correct! Upload to YouTube is something I'm hoping to add in the first update. I've already got the foundation setup so it is technically possible. Unfortunately this will be an iOS 4.0 only feature as it makes use of frameworks that were added in 4. The 3D feature is an unlockable camera mode, so no, there will not be '3D only' levels.
You're 14+ years old and you like to watch the Disney Channel and Cartoon Network and listen to Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers? Whatever, I guess that's cool, man. Good for you.
