I was updating the Stick Escape lite release thread whenever Stick Escape lite made it into a new category, but now that Stick Escape is in Top Adventure in the US (currently ranked 54th), I thought that it would be appropriate to start thread about the success of the pair and maybe help some other developers at the same time. Stick Escape was originally released on April 25th of this year and (soon after release) made it up to 40th on the Adventure sub-category. It has always been my best selling game and even after many months, it brought it a fair amount of sales. I was disappointed in Golden Glover's sales, so I decided to make a lite version. I had never made a lite version, so I thought that it wouldn't hurt. It got up to around 50th in Top Free Action Games in the US, but no further. It did greatly impact the full version's sales. It was actually my sister who gave me the idea to make a lite version for Stick Escape. It was my best selling game, so it made sense. Upon it's release September 18th, I was pretty sure that it would atleast make it to the Top 100 Games. Since then, it has zoomed up to its current position of 7th Top Free App in the US. If you go on the mobile App Store a fair amount, you have most likely seen it. Yesterday, Stick Escape (full version) finally made it onto the Top 100 Adventure Games in the US. The past 10-20 I have been frequently checking my position on iTunes and I have not been disappointed one time yet. I know that success on the App Store doesn't always last forever, so I am trying to take advantage of the time that has been given to me. An update for Stick Escape lite is in review, that update includes a tutorial and a storyline, along with a better variety of levels, so that you can grasp a better feel for the game. That is all I can think of right now, if anyone wants to know anything else about Stick Escape or any other of my games, please let me know! If you see a big change (hopefully for the better) of my position on iTunes of both Stick Escape and Stick Escape lite, please post it below. Their lives were simple and easy until one night......as the wind howls outside, as the windows tremble, as the sky turns a menacing black, a thunderstorm worse than those of your worst nightmares passes over the innocent town of Stickville. The Sticks burst from their home and run screaming like demented baboons that have had one too many cups of coffee. Your job: keep the Sticks from abandoning the only lives they have ever known and keep them around ‘till the sun arrives to come save the day. You do this by simply tapping a family member to switch their direction of running. But that is not all! Oh no, we show no mercy! While the Sticks continue to become speedier and speedier (storms can do strange things to people), tornadoes, earthquakes, and other disasters wreak havoc and further panic the petrified people. So are you ready to face this challenge? The Sticks depend on you; do not let them down! You are our only hope to save the Sticks from ultimate destruction. And even if you just don’t really care about the Sticks or their future, but just want some fun, this game is for you! Note: No stick people were harmed in the making of this game. It was my first game and I put my best into it, so in that aspect, I am very happy with it. As I said above, this was my first game and I put my best foot forward, that is all I can do. Also, with popularity, does come disadvantages. I have watched 5 star average games go to 2-3 stars as they climbed to the top 100. And the full version has a 2 star average See above, I did my best with this game that I knew how. The lite version has several thousand 1 star rating and around one thousand 5 star rating, so a lot of people hate, but a fair amount of people like it. The sales for the full version are really good right now, they increased because of the lite version. Thus, logically, people played the lite version and liked it enough to buy it. To answer your question, the lite version has all of the features, just not as many levels. I did make a poor decision on what levels to include, an update is in review with level 1 coming. PocketMonkey Well-Known Member Mar 29, 2009 637 0 0 #8 PocketMonkey, Oct 5, 2009 Have you noticed a high correlation between sales and the # of lite versions downloaded? WellSpentYouth Well-Known Member Jan 11, 2009 1,363 6 0 iPhone programmer App Tech Studios, USA #13 WellSpentYouth, Oct 5, 2009 Sorry, it has info for devs and it discusses the game. Very true, good reviews do help though Well, we have to be realistic here, I am not going to sell 100,000 copies of Stick Escape per day. Maybe from 0-1,000 the full version might sell more, but I have heard that the #1 Top Paid sells 10,000-30,000 a day, I don't think it goes much higher than that. Would I like to have all 5 star ratings? Sure! That would be great! But I am climbing a ladder of programming knowledge. Each brings a new step, a new push in the right direction. It has been 5 months since I made Stick Escape, I have learned a lot since then. Last Christmas, I couldn't code one line. Now, I can code thousands of lines. My point is, Stick Escape is not even close to being a perfect game, I am not a perfect developer, but I am learning and I work every day to improve my skills. I am now working with Unity 3D and I am amazed what I can make in just a few weeks! I am sorry if you don't like Stick Escape lite, but if you don't like it, don't buy the full version! I will still be here making my games to the best of my abilities, I hope some day I can make a game that everyone likes Ravenblack Well-Known Member Feb 24, 2009 1,755 0 0 Singapore #14 Ravenblack, Oct 5, 2009 Your attitude is very inspiring. arkanigon Well-Known Member Dec 24, 2008 439 0 0 #15 arkanigon, Oct 5, 2009 Last edited: Oct 5, 2009 co-sign.
