Aaah yes. I am not aware of how to do that.

Currently, Empty City 3D is under 10mb, so (atleast for now) it can be downloaded via cell tower :) It is around 9.2 mb (with OpenFeint), but I would be surprised if I can stay under 10mb.

Well, not really. I may have to take off the mountain/country side of the river, it isn't working out that well :(

I still have to finish making the city and create some goals for the Free Roam mode. Of course, problems always come up. I am still battling some errors that are from OpenFeint, but I am making progress.

I have decided to go with the island idea. I am going to try to make the city as interesting as possible though :) Think driving off of a jump onto a ramp which goes to the top of a skyscraper and going off of another ramp and doing 3 barrel rolls in the air while falling from the skyscraper  Just to give you guys an idea of the scoring system, I got 902 points for the sequence of jumps :) Each barrel roll is an extra 100 points.

To satisfy everyone who thinks that the buildings look like their kitchen granite, I added 2 more building textures that are actual pictures of buildings ;)

EDIT: After I put another solid few hours into making more buildings, jumps, etc, I will post some more screens. Be looking sometime this weekend hopefully.

Oh boy! That would be sweet! Only one problem, that would take forever to make :( Also, (as of yet) I haven't figured out how to make liquids in Unity, so that would pose as a slight problem :) It sounds very relaxing. Driving underwater between island with fish swimming around you ;)

I have been thinking about a price for Empty City 3D for the past few days and I can't make up my mind. My previous games have all been $.99, but Empty City 3D is a big step ahead of them. I am leaning toward the $2.99 price tag for several reasons.

    1. I want to sell EC3D closer to what it is worth. Several months have already went into developing it and I feel that it is worth more than $.99.

    2. Like I said, EC3D is worth more than $.99, but you may be wondering, why not $1.99? I have no idea why, so here is a quick write up of what price tags bring to my mind.

$.99 to me means a quick, fun little game (for eg: Doodle Jump).

$5 and up means a big game (usually 3D and sometimes a series name like Need For Speed) like Ravensword.

$2.99 usually means (to me) a great game with a fair amount of depth and gameplay, but maybe it doesn't have the series name or quite the quality is the $5 and up titles.

$1.99 usually makes me feel like someone is overcharging for a $.99 game. I don't know why, but that is the first thing that comes to my mind.

These are my first thoughts and seeing that most customers probably won't think about the price more than a quick glance, the first thoughts are the most important.

What are your thoughts about the price? Just to give you an idea of the content, here is a very quick glance at the current features.

    1. 3 gameplay modes
    a. Time Attack 2 min.
    b. Free Roam
    c. Time Attack 4.
    2. OpenFeint achievements and online leaderboards
    3. Huge open world city that you can explore

I disagree with your $1.99 theory. I think that price means it is a quick game like doodle jump and it has extended functionality like more game modes and some extended gameplay.

I agree that $1.99 are games that have extended functionality of $.99, but I am saying that at first glance, $1.99 games look like overpriced $.99 games. The average customer won't think twice about it and they will move on. I am not sure what is going through everyone's mind when they first look at a price tag, but I know that a $1.99 price is a turn off for me.

This game would require more polished graphics for me to buy it at $2.99. IMO

I personally do too, but as you said, most people don't. I am trying to catch the average person's attention :)

The screenshots are most definitely not representative of the final version of Empty City 3D, so if you base your opinion off of the screenshots, then I would agree, it wouldn't be worth $2.99. I am adding a better variety of buildings, more jumps, and other objects like a freeway.

Yeah I think 2.99 sounds right, but for some reason I dont see many apps selling well at 2.99 I'd say come out of the gate with 99 cents or get some serious advertising in (reviews on big sites etc.).

Sounds awesome. Cant wait for some screens

I know, most devs just want to get the impulse buys (which is perfectly fine), but I think that I should charge what it is worth. In my opinion, the price should start high and then drop, so you can get the original buys and then everyone who is waiting for a sale or if they are not sure will buy in when it drops.

As far as reviews on big sites, I am really hoping that TouchArcade reviews Empty City 3D! I have a few other sites that I will be sending codes to though.

Thank you! The screenshots may not be ready this weekend as I had hoped, but I will continue to work on the game so that I have something to show you guys ;)

Ok, I looked through the thread and the game sounded incredible, UNTIL I went to your website and saw the screenshots. I know that they probly are not final but the game for me went from an instant-buy to a ehh idk I'll wait and see game. I did not like that the game was in portrait position, so that was a HUGE turn off. The graphics did not look good at all to me. I didn't really like the car model and I think that there should be unlockable car designs. The entire city looked empty but not in a good way at all. I think you should take a look at pictures from like an average city (like philly) with its differnt buildings. All of the buildings looked the same to me. I think you've got an excellent concept in your game, but if it is not polished with bad controls and not enough content, then people will not buy.

Sorry I was really harsh, just trying to give you valuable advice.
    Good luck with the game.

I agree there needs to be no blue space or whatever that is but I hope that is just a placeholder and yea landscape would be nice. Plus the buttons are too big they could be made a lot smaller.

Ok, right off of the bat, the screenshots are not final. As far as the orientation of the device, it was changed to landscape earlier this week, so problem solved! I would be more than happy to change the car model, just give me a general idea of what you are thinking of. No unlockable car models, that is not a possibility, sorry. Yes, when I took those screenshots there was one street with buildings on either side, but there is a whole lot more that has been made/is coming!

As far as textures for the buildings, more of those have been added as well :) No! You weren't too harsh! I would much prefer constructive criticism than empty flattery! The majority of your concerns have been/will be dealt with, but I will work on the car model (please let me know what you think that it should look more like!) :)

No, I am not saying that necessarily. Yes, that may happen, but I am trying to think of a price and I am asking you guys for help on what you think is best. Should I start out at $2.99 and have a weekend sale sometime later? Should I have it $2.99 and have a sale if I get featured by Apple (otherwise, keep the $2.99 price)? Should I have a firm $2.99 (or another price) price? What do you feel would be a good price approach?

Yes, I have switched to landscape. The buttons have also been decreased in size and (as you can kind of see in the second screen on the website) they have been switch to left and right instead of one on top of each other. The reverse button disappears when you are in the air ;)
