Actually, it does have a concrete looking texture, but the sun is so bright that it blinds you from seeing it. Let me see what I can do.
Nope, I am still working on the graphics, so if you have ideas on how to improve them, please let me know! Sure! Basically, you are given a time limit to go around the city and get as many points as you can by going off of jumps. The bigger the jump, the more air time, the more points that you get. When the time runs out, your score is automatically submitted to the leaderboard for that mode. If you have to leave the game, you can just press the sleep button and it will automatically pause (and resume when you turn it back on). Or you can press the quit button half way through and it will submit your score to the leaderboards.
Okay for the areas surrounding the buildings, make it elevated. A little bit, taht will help define the road and maybe pull off stunts. Also the sky looks like my paintings. I think a little landscape there would be nice, like panaroma or something. Also, maybe you can have random ramps just along side roads. The ramps would lead to a gap in a building which you would fly through (if you make it ) then go out the other end into some other obstacle or something. Honestly the grapihcs are fine for the ipod right now, some more polish would help obviously but the framework is decent. but the building need some work, they kinda look really fake. the one in the top right of the first pic looks like my kitchen's tiling =P. But for the building I'd personally like to see elevation differences. Most of the roads should be straight but a few might be going up a hill or something. The stunt run looks nice but (if the physics allow for it) can you make points for rolling and other crazy stunts. Also some of the ramps should be split into two halves. one side is a bit bigger than the other and is lower than the other, with a smaller slop. The other side is narrower, and has a high slope gradient. Going off this type of ramp would result in a barrel roll! but u know that... edit: the areas around the building should be elevated like stairs for people, or small slope gradient. So its not like a wall or something
Ok, I think I get what you mean. I will do that for some of the buildings LOL, like I said in one of my posts, it is meant to be around 95% (maybe 90%) realistic. I know that there may not be buildings exactly like that, but it adds color to the game instead of boring, plain black, buildings. Hmmm, I don't think that I could make barrel rolls happen, but maybe a complete flip of the car would be possible. I will see what can be done about that
physics wise? You can contact the guys behind jet car stunts for some help maybe? I dont think they implemented barrel rolls but im sure their physics would allow it.
It really isn't the physics I guess, it is more the way I have set everything up. I have to balance everything in order to have the drift, speed, and air time be realistic and controllable. I might be able to make it so the x axis of the iPhone's motion sensor makes the car barrel roll, would that be fine?
yeah thats fine! but im honestly not sure how well that would work. Say ur in mid air trying NOT to do a barrel roll. Then if you accidentally do it a little bit you might. IF you do it then make there a sensitivity control option. But this actually brings a whole new dimensions. Maybe off the jumps they can go into little 'holes' in buildings and such but you have to tilt your car one way otehrwise it wont go through? there is drift? sweet dude
Hmm, I could have a button to turn barrel rolls on and if I barrel rolls are even possible. The only problem with that is that people go off of the jumps at different angles and it will be difficult (near impossible) to get the right angle to go through a small hole. I will put some hoops though (kind of like JCS and BP). No, there isn't drift I had it on, but when you would try to turn into a jump, you would crash into the side wall and loose control.
Ok, how does this look? You turn the iPhone left and right to control the barrel roll. When you are touching the ground, that motion controls the wheels, but it controls the barrel rolls in the air. I haven't gotten around to the steps up to the buildings, but I will let you know when it is done Keep those suggestions coming, they really help me make a better game!
looks sick nasty! but is that in mid flight or near the end of it? It kind of seems low. I just realized something about drifting off jumps. You could do a spin but horizontally. You know like your car just turns but no flipping rolling etc. it just turns.... But only if there is drift =) This game just keeps getting better and better
Yes, it is about 3/4 of the way to the ground. I will have some bigger jumps though Hmmm, a "flat spin"? You would have to have drift (which makes the turning difficult and messes up the balance) and even with that, it probably wouldn't be spinning fast enough to work. I am stumbling over how to know if you did a full 360 barrel roll, but when I do figure it out, I will give a 100 point bonus for every barrel roll. Is this the general idea of the stairs and the little flat area? It is the last building on the block and it is in scene edit mode, so there is no sky.
wow the stairs look NICE define the road and help with realism! You are a great dev in my opinion. Work so hard, and produce all this sooo quickly... ah, yes the 'flat spin' i obviously havent played burnout in quite some time. Usually it doesnt work unless ur on a big ramp. I guess if you really to you could add a boost feature. I mean it would make ur drift spin faster which would help with the flat spin.
alright well I have to go. ill be on tommorrow spewing out crap for you! good luck with everything til then, bye
