Yeah my wife actually rolled it back to 7.1.2 because she missed playing the game with the controller so much lets hope they sort out ios 8 soon.
I use the stratus mfi controller and will buy a full size pad when their available.Would love to buy this game if you support the official pads.

These sorts of games are probably easier on iphone for touch controls but i struggle badly with the ipad and dont enjoy them much, if you can do...

Well i think the steelseries stratus joypad is the only mfi controller at the moment that works with ipads, the moga and logitech ones only work...
I asked on the Shantae thread but i'll ask here as well has anyone managed to get shantae working with the stratus controller its on the list for...
Its a smart game but its really choppy on ipad air,hopefully square will smooth it out.
