I think this is also mislead by the Monk quest. Instead of "unequipping" weapons, try equipping a glove or fist weapon instead.
Actually, it's cool that you can make whatever character you want (well, almost) in Battleheart Legacy :)
Yeah this part was misleading. Actually, what you need is to equip either gloves or fist weapons when you talk to the monk chick Willow.
You need to learn the Barbarian passive skill "Colossal Weapon," and you need to equip the passive to be able to use Colossal weapons.

I think that's coz you are "locked on with an NPC." Try tapping with 3 fingers simultaneously to release the lock-on.
