Yes I would love more ways to attain hats. I don't want to gain them so quickly that I'll run out but 1 hat every 3-5 hours seems way too long....
I doubt it's abandoned because pretty much it was "done" but had a bunch of glitches and bad gameplay decisions. They just need to work on that...
