I took the plunge and updated..it's fine for me. Just backup just in case but it should be safe.
Beware lots of reports are that the update caused them to lose all their data so you might want to backup your data before updating or hold off...

It works in PVE too but I noticed the shield is half of what it is in PVP it's odd that it does that
