No I think they should absolutley start dropping the older devices eventually, but when the 5th gen comes out they should not drop support for all...
Always try and keep one spare node on you so that when you come across locked doors you can open them (they can have some awesome stuff behind them).

Probably as rotating the iPad could get really annoying after awhile of playing.
