Most of the other apps are only web apps so it shouldn't matter what apple has to say about it.
Mine were all referrals too. I'm not sure what happened but they told me I got 8000 spins when I really should have gotten 600 or so. I'm assuming...
Don't feel bad they took 4.5 million credits and 8000 spins from me. It was an error in their system with awarding too many spins.
