I managed to get Tiffany SNSD? (after auditioning for 3 days) but I just can't complete the mission no matter how many country songs I released....
I'm missing one training type (Alien Experiments) because of the same problem you faced - it's grayed out but usable.

That is not true. Only auditions give you a time limit to hire a member. Buying the pool doesn't involve hiring members. I have hit a paywall...
Well this is clearly a f2p game so in-your-face IAPs are to be expected. I went into this game with this mindset and still managed to have fun....
