Scare doesn't work on the bigger bosses, it works against minislimes when the big one breaks.
Also for 3, if you have any skills that will disorient the mini slimes when the boss breaks apart, use em! I had a wizard with the time stop...

There are rare items that cannot be bought from the merchant or upgraded to. They can only be achieved if you play Arena and get lucky.
