i don't think that it matters - on which side you put your dragons - which level they are - if they are new - which name they have i believe on...
but 1 gem a week isn't very interesting (you can get 2 or 5 in the colloseum or 3a day by friends)

after having my first emerald i'm trying to get a second one got a 24h crystal now 24h + 48h no luck but happy to have at least 1
i start the game minimum 3x a day and collect coins and start new breedings i go only for limited dragons when they appear the new dragons often...
