To collect all gems, just restarts the needed episode from menu. For a whole new game, reinstall is the way.
Nothing can be done on that atm. Intense graphics at lava. But keep trying the game adjusts the difficulty when you lose too much :)

BTW, There are different endings if you find all crystals and not.
