I'm reasonably far in. Grinding for ABP's. Jackhol Cave was workable and let me master a fair number of classes and push on.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's based on usage in battle. That means tougher enemies require more swings of a weapon, more spells cast, etc....
Red Soul, and any Souls, are only healed by magic attacks. You'll need at least one Brawler.
