I just figured out what I was doing wrong -- playing Dwarven Den while blonde. Anyways, I have the pick now.
Once you are in the cavern with the tunneling shovel chest, look for a narrow corridor.
I assume the pick is in that isolated area off to the top right. How on earth does one get over there?
