There are two bars in the bottom; The red one is your health and the bottom one is for the amount of treasure you get when hitting an enemy....
The higher the aura the better/more loot you're getting and they don't stack as far as I've noticed

For me it feels more in tune with the visuals. I do the same thing with watching the Attack on Titan series
