Capcom and Nebula Joy have had a mobile entry in the famed Devil May Cry series in the works for quite some time now, with the game in question being in various states of testing or soft launch for at least the past couple of years. Now it looks like that game, Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat, is approaching a new milestone as the developers have just launched a pre-registration campaign. As with many mobile entries in popular console and PC series, Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is sort of a mashup of several different mainline Devil May Cry games. It will feature multiple familiar playable characters including Dante, Nero, Vergil, and Lady. Here is a trailer showing the game in action.
As mentioned Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat has been available in various parts of the world already, and it seems like the general sentiment is that the game is enjoyable enough as fan service but much too watered down to really scratch the Devil May Cry itch while on the go. Long-time mobile games may remember the mobile version of Devil May Cry 4 that launched just over 12 years ago, and for what it was, especially at the time, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I guess it will be interesting to see another mobile take on the series in a mobile gaming landscape that is drastically different than it was back in 2011.
Those who pre-register for Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat on the game’s website will automatically be entered for a chance at participating in an upcoming closed beta, and whether you are picked for that or not all pre-registerers will earn rewards when an open beta kicks off sometime later this year.
