Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Well, I’ve done it again. I took too long with other things today and now I have very little time to finish this work. That means Shaun is doing a speed run, which could be very good or very bad. The answer lies inside this very article, chums. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
World of Tanks Blitzâ„¢, Free Given the state of reality these days, I’m not surprised that World of Tanks Blitz is choosing to go with some lighter fare for its recent events. The one in this newest version of the game is called Luxury Party, featuring a bunch of rewards including credits, resources, and the Scepter heavy tank for certain very lucky players out there. Or rich ones, I suppose. Either-or. In terms of new modes, there’s a mode called Uprising that the notes describe as “mystic", and another one called Gravity Force that it calls “cosmic". Intriguing!
Toon Blast, Free No time to find a more interesting obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for this week, so I’m just going with our old stand-by of Toon Blast. You get fifty new levels in a brand new episode titled High Score, which is highly unlikely to be a collaboration with Hi Score Girl. But since I can’t really check, who is to say? Anyone. Literally anyone. There is no chance this has anything to do with that manga. I am just writing words because there isn’t anything more interesting to talk about with this update. Such is how things go sometimes.
Temple Run 2, Free The latest update for Temple Run 2 sees you heading right into the Pirate Cove. Well, that certainly doesn’t sound like a safe work environment. But wait a second, because you are here to help! The Cove is filled with trash that people have carelessly left about, and you need to help clean it up on the Earth Day map. Maria Selva and Rahi Raja are ready to do their part, picking up litter as they run to restore Pirate Cove to its former deadly beauty. Surely the demon monkeys can’t be opposed to this? And yet, here we are.
MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG, Free Yowza, all kinds of things going on in this update. Apparently you’re now able to recruit the First Horseman of Apocalypse: Morgan Le Fay. Oh, she’s some kind of trouble, that one. Four other playable characters are joining in the coming period as well, with Wong, Agatha Harkness, Doctor Strange (Heartless), and Madelyne Pryor stepping in. Some of that seems to be associated with the upcoming Doctor Strange movie sequel. There are also some new costumes, an event celebrating the game’s fourth anniversary, some campaign updates, and a whole lot more. Dive on in and see what’s what if you want the full skinny.
CookieRun: Kingdom, Free You know, I haven’t played this one. A Cookie Run RPG? Not sure about it. I guess I could just give it a try and remove the mystery, but that seems far too logical for a Shaun like me to do. Let’s instead just head to the update notes now that I have sufficiently stalled to pad out their spartan nature. There’s a new episode in this update, aptly titled EP.14. I presume it is the fourteenth episode. If it isn’t, then the title isn’t very apt at all, is it? There’s a new Cookie here, the Epic Caramel Arrow Cookie. Sounds delicious. I’m late for dinner as I write this, so I’m a bit hungry. Well, one step closer to getting fed. Moving on.
Tetris® Beat, Tetris Beat is at its best when you are enjoying some of its fine music, and that means there’s no finer update than one that adds more tunes. That’s just what this one does, tossing four new songs into the mix from GARZA (EDM), Title.Wav (Pop), Nomdecode Spartacus (Pop again), and Nardo Says (Hip Hop c-c-c-combo breaker!). There are some new leaderboards, improvements to the beat timing visualization, some adjustments to the tutorials, and the always-appreciated bug fixes. Cool, cool.
Cut the Rope Remastered, Easter updates, this early? Phew. I mean, I guess it’s almost that season again. Anyway, the Apple Arcade remaster of Cut the Rope is getting eggy with it, adding nine new levels with special Easter eggs to find. Track them all down and you’ll get yourself an extra-special stamp. Not quite as good as chocolate, but it’s a zero-calorie treat provided you don’t try to eat your phone. Please do not try to eat your phone. TouchArcade does not endorse eating your phone, and neither do I. DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO.
Skate City, I’ve been informed I can’t make any additional references to Paradise City when I write about this game as I have thoroughly exhausted the joke to the point that not even my mother finds it amusing. Not even performatively amusing! Yeesh, mom. So let’s just get to the meat, which is that Skate City has a new location called Pro Skate Miami. Head out onto the streets of Miami to take on all new challenges with spiffy new features and obstacles. Just keep an eye out for alligators. They don’t take kindly to large meat bags zipping by them being all “rad to the max" or whatever it is we are today. Pro Skate has sixty new objectives to clear, so you’d best get to work. There’s no room for slackers at the top of the leaderboards, after all.
Dan The Man Platformer, Free I am also not allowed to make rhymes with the title of this game, not even accidentally. I’m apparently not as clever as I think I am, and not even my mother thinks so. Not even performatively! Rude. But what isn’t rude is traveling through time, and that’s exactly what Dan the Man’s pl… target is this time around. Battle dragons in the new Golden Knight event and show that as heroes go you are no also-ra… washed up fellow? Oh dear. Indulge in the new battle arena designs and take on some special missions. Perhaps you will even unlock the Golden Knight and Golden Knight Evil fighters. You can tell which one is good and which one is bad by the label. It’s on the underwear tag. Naturally there are also some new event emotes and icons to scoop up. Get them if you ca… are able to!
WazHack, Free At last I’ve made it, and I’m only going home an hour late! As you can guess, this game is getting the coveted UMMSotW award for this week. WazHack is a really fun roguelike, and it has been around on mobile for a hot minute. And by that, I mean ten years. Ten years! To celebrate the occasion, the game has received a full remaster. A completely new version of the engine, with improved visuals and support for all the new hardware that has come out in the six years since the last update. There’s also a new side-quest near the top of the dungeon to try out. Whether you’re new to this one or just firing it up for the first time in a while, you’ll likely enjoy checking out this new version of a real classic.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
